Glendale leaders say they are cautiously optimistic following last week's announcement that the former chief executive of the San Jose Sharks has expressed interest in buying the Phoenix Coyotes.
The city has confirmed that Greg Jamison, who spent years with the California hockey team, is leading one of two groups speaking to Glendale and the National Hockey League about purchasing the team. The identity of the second bidding group has not been released.
Council members who spoke to The Arizona Republic say they anticipate the Coyotes could be sold and a lease for the city-owned Jobing.com Arena, where the team plays, signed before the end of the year. They say they're excited to have options to consider.
