Annual Playoff Pick 'em Contest Round 1 (NEW RULES, READ INTRO!)

Now that I have everyone's attention. Welcome to our yearly game where we cocky bastards who know everything there is to know about hockey correctly predicts the results of each round of the playoffs.

For the most part, things are going to stay the same. Predict who wins each series and how many games it will take. For the first round, picking the right team is worth 1 point, picking the correct # of games is an additional 1 point. YOU CANNOT GET THE # OF GAMES POINT IF YOU PICK THE WRONG TEAM. It is a bonus point.

“oh, but ouendan1, this is exactly like every other year. What are the new rules?”

Shut up assholes I'm getting to that! HERE'S WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING!

This year, I'm adding a “Double or Nothing” option. If you guys are SO confident in one particular pick, you can go double or nothing. If you correctly predict the winner AND # of games in your “double or nothing” pick, THEN EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOUR CORRECT PICKS IN THE ROUND WILL BE WORTH DOUBLE!

BUT!

If you get anything about your “Double or Nothing” pick wrong (winner, # of games), you get 0 point for the round, regardless of how many other correct predictions you have.

You have until the very first game of the playoffs to make your picks. If you make your picks afterwards, only series that have not started will count towards your score.

That's it. I will make a new thread for each individual round and update the scores on the first post after each round. I also expect all of you to keep track of your own scores in case I'm bad at math. Good luck and let's see who will be the champion this year!

pretty impressive the Flames are knocking out the Nucks, Sens & Habs!

You know its sad. The ducks are going to make it likely to the WCF due to this years teams in the west being pretty weak. Its likely going to be Ducks vs Flames in the 2nd round and they will likely win that one in 4 or 5 games. Then they get who ever comes out of the Central which can be Blues, Hawks or Wild likely and they are going to be beaten down by the time it gets that far.

If they win the cup this year its going to be mostly they had everything fall their way to make it as easy as possible to get there.

I remember hearing how butthurt and pissed off Ducks fans were when they had to play the Kings in the 2nd round last year because of the new playoff format. This year I can imagine they are probably praising it. Unfortunately they should cake walk to the WCF. No one in the West impresses me. All the more frustrating since I still think the Kings could have done a lot of damage had they made the playoffs.
