From the presser..

Did your touchdown catch change the perception of you as a football player?

“Just showing the athletic ability. I've been trying to get Hue to put me out at wide receiver now (Laughs). It's done a lot. I think Mo's going to be playing quarterback, I'll be a receiver, there will be packages, all this kind of stuff (Laughs). I don't know if it says anything about what I'm trying to show as a player. I did hear that my Madden rating in catching went up like 50 points or something. At least people are starting to see it (Laughs).”

What’s your favorite route?

“Obviously a little wheel route. That's my go-to.”

And you're averaging almost 20 yards per catch...

“After contact, too. I think my break-tackles should go up (Laughs).”

It appears Andy has a pretty good sense of humor regarding himself and his enthusiasm for the offense is shining through. I like the confident Andy, as he seems less destructive than the nervous QB trying not to make mistakes, rather than the confident Andy going out to try and make plays.

I read that as well. Hilarious, but he's also very lucky. Any good CB would have absolutely destroyed him.

He knows he is lucky as hell. Sanu even said as much in the locker room. The second he released the pass to Dalton and saw the DB, he was like, "Oh crap, that is an INT or Andy is dead." Then when Andy came back to the ball and leaped to grab it at its highest point, and came down with it, Sanu, was like, "Oh shewww...okay good."

I just think it is a little refreshing to see our QB having fun. Palmer never seemed like he was having fun while he was here. Always too serious with the media. He would make fun puns, and pokes here and there, but never really made fun of himself too much, but remained confident in his speech and demeanor.

I am finally enjoying our team, the chemistry that seems to have built here. Marvin only took 10 years to do it, but he is starting to put together a system that works thanks to the help of Gruden and Zimmer. They also built a new system on evaluating players, grabbing the right guys, not reaching much at all. They are able to coach their guys up, and the players are building internal competitions to help each one of them rise to the occasion, while not being a selfish player asking for the ball every play. Everyone does their part, they share the workload, they care for each other, the work hard, and they play hard at all times.

The culture around here has changed completely, and I am happy to see it. Now let's just hope this eventually turns into a championship team in February. Step 1) Make the playoffs again. Step 2) Win a stinking playoff game!

I think many just didn't notice how well Dalton played that ball. Of course it helped that the DB took the dumbest angle possible to the ball/Dalton, but Andy cut inside of him and used his body to shield him and make the catch. I think the angle Dalton took made the pick impossible, but the DB sure did miss a big chance to light Dalton up. He could have unloaded just after the ball arrived and Andy could still be in intensive care.

I figure these guys are pro athletes, they should be able to do a lot of things better than average people.

for example, if I played putt putt vs Andy Dalton, he would win by about 10 strokes.
and I am talking about the miniature golf game, for those of you with dirty minds.

I agree with you on all that. Dalton did a nice job of preventing the INT, but the DB should have seen that this is one chance to kill the QB and should have taken it to break up the pass. Dalton may be a good receiver catching the ball, but the DB should have been like, okay, let's see how well he holds on to it if I hit him like a small train coming off the tracks.

To the DB's credit though, he decided he was going for the INT, and Dalton made the play on the ball that a lot of WR's do not do. He didn't wait for the ball to come to him, he stepped up in front of the DB, went for the ball at its highest point, and pulled it down. By that point the DB was already committed to the ball and not Dalton and it was all over. I just think as a DB, you do not get a chance to kill the QB, you should take it and just make sure it is not a completed pass and make Jackson the rest of the game regret calling that play and go more conservative.

Palmer had to deal with so much more that didn't involve football. It's no wonder it sucked the life out of him.

He wanted serious commitment to the game, and Chad was too busy being chad, and TO being TO, and Marvin unable to do anything about it.

True enough I suppose.

I am kinda hoping he gets over his nerve issue quickly so he can take control of Arizona again and drive them to the SB, and hopefully that SB will be against us.

That would be amazing. What a story line that would be. :)

TO was only here for one season, its hard to put blame on him.

I've always said that the day Chris Henry died was the day the Carson/Chad/Benson Bengals ended.

Actually, I think when Hue left, and TJ left...it hurt. Hue was the only one able to corral Johnson.

Henry hurt, but he wasn't really much of an issue.

Chad consistently was off track after Hue left, and Palmer grew more and more frustrated with him.

TO may have only been here for 1 season, but his negative influence over chad (T-OCHO show, really) didn't help matters.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but I think Carson had a better record in games with Henry then without.

I'm talking about team dynamic. Not performance. Henry certainly helped this offense to another level.

I'm just stating, that I'm sure it got old having to keep up after all the character issues on the team. You had arrests, you had suspensions, you had Johnson becoming Ocho, then T.O. the one year, and becoming TOCHO...it was a circus that Marvin couldn't control.

I noticed that Russell Williams out in Seattle tried the same play later that day, of course he wasn't as successful as Andy was.
