Kramer Kramer Kramer. You go as far as saying, "Fuck Me", but then have to use A instead of just saying "Ass"? You silly silly man.
Glorious day is it not?
I was not overly thrilled about the contract when I first heard it, but I like the out clause, and if we win a SB, I can deal with Dalton for a while.
However, I think we can still cut him after two years, just that we take a larger cap hit. Not 100% sure on that. I think if he wins the SB all of his escalators for that year are guaranteed of course, but just because his salary goes up to $19 million because of that SB win does not mean we have to keep him beyond 2016.
Pretty sure the win just boosts his base salary but the out still remains.
the Bengals front office knows that this team is pretty much not good enough to win the superbowl, but somehow they need to run a respectable business and make a profit.
it's a slippery slope, I don't blame them one bit. I did see one article talking about how they jumped the gun... I didn't care enough to read it. We can hope that he continues to make small steps to improvement, it could happen. anythings possible. it may be improbable, but it's not impossible.
all they need to do is fool the public.
Can anyone really see Andy Dalton holding a superbowl trophy? he's not Joe Flacco, lol.
Win or lose, this team will turn a huge profit thanks to the NFL, TV contracts, etc...etc....2-14 or 14-2 doesn't really matter much in the grand scheme of things.
I think this team has a lot of players in place to make a legit SB run. The defense should continue to be top 5, they'll have solid DL play, good LB play, depth in the secondary...offensively they have 2 good WR's, a up and coming TE, decent pass blocking. If they can get the run game going and if Dalton can improve...they can compete.
The AFC is pretty wide open. I think Denver made some great moves going all in behind Peyton, but after that...with some improvement in running and maybe a little less Dalton (maximizing his strengths, and not relying on him to chuck it 40+ times a game), the Bengals are not far off. The curse, of course, is actually getting a win in the playoffs.
