Does this apply to something that happens in Russia? I can some murkiness when dealing with a foreign entity.

I certainly don't claim to be any sort of expert on the topic, but league rules have to be the same for all owners, regardless of where.

Otherwise, we would find Swiss bank accounts for all sorts of players.

That leads to tax evasion though, and millionaires/billionaires don't usually want to leave their mansions to live in a 12x12.

The Nets could be a tough out, but could also flame out dramatically. There is a lot of mileage on that team.

:agree: if they play hard / big minutes regular season, they will be burned out in May.

Take regular season games off and they could fall to 6.

Is it just me or are the Nets going to be a tough team this year?

Its just you. They will still fold again in the playoffs and the only reason they make the playoffs is because the East is so weak.

I'm sure there are rules to prevent this, but we are dealing with a player and owner who are Russian. US tax laws won't apply to anything fishy happening on Russian soil.

in other news, now MWP is now officially amnestied according to ESPN...

back on topic now...

If so, where does everyone think he ends up?

My top 3 guesses would be: NY, Chicago, Clippers.

Not disputing. Isn't the man Russian mafia?

I have said more then once that the Nets, long term are going to be the league powerhouse eventually.

He doesn't care what luxury tax he will have to pay.
He can piss 100M/year.

I have also said I can see James eventually winding up there. Just not until after at least his next contract here.

But are they better than the Heat, Pacers, Bulls (with Rose)?
So that would make them a second round loss.
Gotta see if they can put it all together with a rookie coach.
They could just pull a Lakers...

My guess is Prokhorov must have bought AK-47 a village or something back in Russia

Everyone thinks the East is weaker, maybe top to bottom but I think our top 6 is better than the Wests top 6.

Either way I expect them to make the 2nd round of the playoffs which I do not think is great but still good. They will be very interesting to watch.

The Nets look like the 2nd best team in the East and the most ready to contend with the Heat.

They are a tough team but still no defensive stopper though plus they are slow. No chance against the heat IMO. If they ran into the warriors also they would have a tough time because we are gonna run them out of the stadium
