I like Doran grant more than Leblanc. I hope we can get grant on the practice squad. Leblanc is good, but easily replaceable. We are going to have a lot of difficult cuts with pace as GM.

I'll give it that LeBlanc might have been the biggest surprise, but I thought he had a less than stellar preseason, performance-wise. Still, gotta say I didn't think he'd be one of the cuts.

I don't know much about Grant, but LeBlanc has been a solid depth contributor for us.

Out of the cuts made, he was the only one that raised my brow.

Yeah, I hated LeBlanc with a passion after his first handful of games here. However, he constantly improved and wound up a very solid contributor. Played hard too and made a couple big plays (INT return on Stafford to take the lead 4th quarter in 2016 stands out most).

He has a place in the NFL.

Tolliver was a blue-chip recruit out of high school. If the Bears think there's something there to work with then might as well take him on as a project.

Marcus Cooper however... would've liked to see Doran Grant instead of him, or LeBlanc.

ya, coop instead of LeBlanc surprised me. In fairness, he looked alright until that boner on the blocked FG. He seemed wrecked after that.

Cooper's proven that he's a very solid depth option in this league. The field goal thing impacts his reputation way too much. Personally, I forgave him rather quickly. He actually helped us a lot in shutting down Pittsburgh in the 2nd half en route to the win. He definitely had a bit of a rough season after that, though.

Shit happens... I can forgive one boneheaded mistake. No matter how egregious. It's reoccurring patterns of behavior that drive me away from a guy. By all accounts, this was just a bad moment from Cooper. Not a connecting piece to a part of a history with that crap.

I'm not concerned with the blocked field goal thing at all. I'm more concerned with how he's not a very good corner.

Well, we're talking about a 4th, 5th CB spot here and a player making 1.5 million this year. None of them are "good". However, he has had some success in this league and Fangio clearly prefers him to LeBlanc. I trust Vic and while LeBlanc had made a little progress... he's not "good" either.

Could have kept Doran Grant though, probably for cheaper as well. That's the issue. It's not like we didn't have a lot of options here.

And considering it's the 4th or 5th CB, i'd rather take somewhat of a young project rather than an uninspiring veteran. Could you really not find someone close to a Marcus Cooper off someone's practice squad should you find yourself in a pinch with injuries?

Not a big deal at all, but still.

I think we value Marcus Cooper differently. I think he's very solid veteran depth with a good deal of starting experience - one season removed from a legitimately good season as a starter in Arizona. This is valuable on a team trying to compete for 10 wins. More valuable than a rookie project you couldn't possibly trust to be serviceable in game action versus Rodgers, Brady, Minnesota, Los Angeles or any other of the tougher matchups on our schedule.

You obviously think Cooper is veteran trash/filler. So, we'll never come to a consensus.
