The three worst parts about the deal are as follows:

1. The new Warriors owner is part of the group buying the Bums. So now my favorite basketball team owns my least favorite sports franchise of all time. It stings.

2. McCourt somehow gets to keep half the parking lot land and will continue to make money off the Dodgers even after he boned Magic Johnson's group out of $2 billion. Maybe I'm missing something, but that just strikes me as a really fucking stupid thing to do.

3. Stan Kasten will end up running the Bums, which means that Secret Agent Ned is likely out of a job.

Welcome him back with open arms?

Agreed...what's the comparison with the Giants and CSN Bay Area? Are they way behind Texas, New York, LA in terms of their TV deal? Any word on that changing?

The Giants own 30% of their RSN. I'd imagine the Giants are raking in huge amounts of cash.

Magic Johnson is going to buy the #Dodgers? Wow. Only one thing for #SFGiants to do: Sell an ownership stake to Larry Bird.

Need to insert him into Az.

lol, Godspeed!

:heh:

Arizona is the one team in the division that I think that can beat the Giants for the division crown even if the Giants stay healthy all year (i.e. - Posey for 140 games or so and Franchez for 120 games or so).

Hopefully, having the target on their back this year will make the team struggle a bit.

So my $1.5 billion value estimate seems right...those cheap motherfuckers better step up.

+1

AZ is better than us on paper IMO, but not by a lot.

I don't know a ton on the subject, but going off of what I have been hearing... the tv deal in NY (YES network, Yanks own 34%) is worth more than the Yankees franchise itself. As they would expect with the Dodgers. Being that those are the two largest markets they would generate a lot of money for the Dodgers to spend. Just going off of what I could find it says that in 2011 YES paid the Yankees $90million out of $224 million generated.

I think their pitching comes back down to earth. Kennedy and Hudson are not that good, and Cahill is extremely over rated. I don't think I even need to comment on Saunders and Collmenter.

Their line up is better than ours mainly due to that fact that Drew is the only one coming off major injury, and he really hasn't been AS good since 08/09.

Thats pretty even, imo. If Huff produces, then I personally think we might actually have the edge.

McCourt did not suck any more money out of the Dodgers than Zito/Rowand did out of the Giants.

While I appreciate the humorous sentiment ...

Oh, wait - am I just being a HF?
