I mentioned this in another thread, but think it might rate it's own thread.

PPG is a stat I don't like because it can reward ballhogs, among other things.

PER is better, but is too complicated for easy calculation.

In contrast Points/MISSED Field Goals (P/MFGA for short) would be easy to calculate
and penalize ballhogs and players too quick to settle for long jumpers early in the shot clock.

Agree or disagree?

If you disagree say WHY you disagree politely, please.

Thank you.

This differs significantly from shooting % how? Yes, you get a little bump for 3ptrs, but it pretty much tells you the same thing.

I know the point you were trying to make with the shot clock but that will not tell that story.

Other than that I love the thinking of new stats and testing them out, and that one is a modified FG% and TS% combo, I like it.

Shooting percentage isn't affected by free throws made or attempted. This is.
So players who attack the rim whenever possible and get fouled will look better
on my stat than on shooting percentage. Assuming they shot FTs at all well anyway.

Stats are stupid period. Stats dont tell you what type of defense is being played against that player. I rather go by the eye test more.

Stats are hardly flawless, but different stats have different flaws. Most can tell you something thoughthey canalsobe misinterpreted. As can the eye test, for that matter.

There actually is stats on this they are just not regularly available to the public. They are so hard to google but they can tell you so much shit, FG% in a spot to a players opponent FG% against that player in any spot etc the list and filters are endless. The problem is googling that shit is impossible because that tech is expensive so nobody is giving it away for free.

In my experience eye tests are the beauty in the eye of the beholder aka the definition of bias. My girl is my princesita, she is spoiled, diva and gorgeous, but I am the beholder and I doubt every other person in the rest of the world feels the way I do, but if they do not they are obviously blind.
