Yea not sure I would have put Doolittle over him. Looking the AL pitching snubs though, the AL is stacked pitching wise. Lots of tough choices.

Not an All-Star game fan, but how can you lead you league in saves and get snubbed over a guy who became closer after start of season and has lesser numbers? Don't get it, but I would rather see him take the time off.

Seagar got snubbed (Kinsler did too). Both are top 10 playings for their teams at the moment.

I mean whatever, but I was really pulling for him.

And JETER starting? C'mon. Guy has been nowhere near starting all star material this year. Aybar and Ramirez are far more value to their teams at the moment. Maybe this is Jeter's last year where he'd even be considered for an all star spot so they gave it to him given all he's contributed to baseball.

Rodney got snubbed and I think Kyle Seager should be on the final vote lineup. However, looking at the names who won't be on the team, Ortiz, Pujols, Sale, it's hard to get everyone. The AL is absolutely stacked.

And yeah, Jeter starting is a joke, but the majority of the people who voted him in are idiots. It would be fine if the game were still exhibition.

It looks like I'm in a minority for saying this, but I always enjoy the MLB All-Star game/HRD and I don't think it's a joke.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand the Josh Donaldson hype train? Last year he had an incredible year, but he's only hitting .244/.323/.464 this year. He has 19 HRs and 62 RBIs, but I personally prefer a more balanced player like Beltre or Seager. Based on this year alone I'd say Beltre is deserving of the start, Seager the reserve and Donaldson the final vote.

The Athletics sure got a lot of love for the AS game. I don't think Donaldson should be on the roster, personally. Yoenis Cespedes is hitting a pedestrian .262. I'd personally take the following OF over Cepedes: Brantley, Jones, Trout, Bautista, Markakis, Cabrera, Crisp, Gardner and Ellsbury.

I'd also take Rodney over Sean Doolittle.

I don't understand why Seager isn't at least on the list of the final vote in the AL. He's the second best third baseman in the league behind Beltre. It makes no sense. Rodney should have been selected too.

I think Seager gets in cause of the injury to Encarnacion. He shouldn't have to wait with the year he's having but he has no name recognition.

I certainly think he deserves to be in, but doesn't it seem much more realistic for Manny Machado to get that spot? :L

Same reason the NFL's Top 100 list get's so many facepalms: The voters don't know what they're talking about.

It's not an easy solution, of course. In the NFL's list the players are voting. Players aren't fans or analysts. They have absolutely zero objectivity because they're busy game planning for the next team and focusing on their own game. With the MLB All Stars, we give the votes to the "fans" (anyone with a computer) for the starters *cough Derek Jeter cough* and the reserves to 1 manager, who again, has been busy focusing on his own team and division to worry about which 3rd baseman in the AL West is having the statistically better year.

There's no perfect solution unless you make a rule that the best players statistically (based on predetermined stat categories) get in, and I don't see that happening.

Donaldson is essentially the anti Seagar. He had a fantastic April but has been pretty average the rest of the year. Seagar on the other hand a bad April but has been great since. However its useless to compare them since Donaldson was voted in, so the comparison was between Beltre and Seagar. With Edwin Encarnacion and Brandon Moss likely being out hopefully Seagar and Kinsler fill those spot because they are the biggest snubs IMO. I can understand Jeter being voted in because all the fan far but Weiters getting voted in when he has been out for the year since May is a huge head scratcher.

It sucks for Rodney and Seager, but they can go home and rest, this team needs them and it's gonna be a grind the second half of the season...

the home run derby is a fun enough spectacle, though i haven't watched it since i was a kid. it would definitely be something i'd watch with my kids if i had any, though.

the all star game is a nation-wide popularity contest whose outcome decides home field advantage for the sport's biggest prize, which is just one of about 100 things that make it a tremendous joke.

it is a nice break for the majority of MLB which I'm sure they other 99% of players enjoy.

it's the same every year.

to be fair, it is called the all star game, not the best players this year game.

and big market teams always get priority for popularity contests/spectacles.

True but this year it seems like more players that deserve it got snubbed. But like you said... it's not the "best players" going. Fan voting is god awful!
