This is a common sense change that should have happened decades ago. Shows how much common sense there is in the sports world.

Pretty sure I was the only one, but I liked the All star game deciding WS... I did think there were better options, but I don't think this is one...

Never liked the idea... I mean it is a popularity contest who goes to the AS game anway. Hell, half the people chosen don't even want to go (yes, I am exaggerating the number)

sure, but again, the problem wasn't that the All star game decided the WS, the problem is that the All star game is not what it advertises... it is not the best players... When they made the all star game "matter" they should have taken the game itself more serious too...

But I dislike the change, as the 2 leagues are so different that better record really means little IMO...

My solution WOULD have been to take the interleague record of ONLY the playoff teams... the league with the better interleague record gets the Home field...

I stopped being interested in the ASG on all levels the year Ryan Howard got 1 million votes and hadn't played an inning all season. Whatever the game ever had to do with the competitive league schedule has forever escaped real logic, but at least the players once mattered.

MLB has the technology to remove players from the ballot early in the process when they don't qualify and they choose to let people from Timbuckfuckingtoo vote for participants who aren't even healthy enough to play.

Gotta hand it to Selig though. The man was an owners commissioner, which was exactly his job.

determining HFA maybe wasn't ideal, but at least it gave the game some meaning

now, it is more useless than ever

It's not like the ASG rosters were always carrying the best possible rosters, between the fan voting and "mandatory rep from every team rule."
