That said, though, I basically never go to RT. I notice the ratings when they are posted here, but I don’t put too much weight into them.

Glad I saw it on the big screen. Very solid 6/10.

I know domestic sales aren’t great, but I’m really hoping for a sequel to this. Maybe it’ll do well in China.

Glad you liked it. :thumb:

It's actually doing okay at the box office. Not great, but okay. Early projections were that Happy Death Day 2U would win opening weekend, but instead, Happy Death Day 2U way underperformed and dropped to 5th, and Alita: Battle Angel actually won opening weekend with $27.8 million. (That said, Happy Death Day 2U is still in better overall financial shape since it had such a low budget.)

Alita is still probably going to lose money since its budget was so high, but it's not the massive bomb that Mortal Engines was.

Man I had never even heard of Mortal Engines. Seems like a scifi I'd like too

Box Office: Will China Help Save 'Alita: Battle Angel'?

Directed by Robert Rodriguez and co-written by Cameron, Alita: Battle Angel already cleared one hurdle when posting a six-day debut of $42.3 million in North America — $15 million to $20 million ahead of forecasts. Internationally, Alita, starring Salazar as a kick-ass cyborg, finished the Feb. 15-Feb. 17 weekend with an early foreign total of $94 million from 86 markets.

But the pic is hardly out of danger, considering its $170 million net budget and another $100 million-plus in worldwide marketing costs. Fox insiders say the film needs to do $350 million at the global box office to break even, but financial sources put that figure at $450 million to $500 million.

I saw this yesterday and I really enjoyed it. 7/10. Movie tech has gotten so amazing. I would have seen this in 3D but my dumbass Regal theatre had it in a small room. That is just fucking stupid. Shit like that hurts sales. They didn't even haven't the 2D on their biggest screen. Lego 2 was. In their second biggest theater they had Isn't It Romantic. Lame.

I hope for a sequel also.

I think it was production nearly $200M, that doesn't count advertising. The #s you posted above do NOT include the % take from the theater... and for international, it's like 35-50%, it's much larger than domestic. Overall I think this movie broke even which is a bomb. I don't think 'The Empire' (aka Disney) will invest for a sequel, which is too bad. Instead they'll keep making shit Star Wars movies.
