My Red Sox can clinch a rematch of the 1967 World Series in this game.
St Louis clinched their spot last night.

For the Tigers the starting pitcher will be Max Scherzer, who posted a 0.970 WHIP this season
and is at 1.229 for his 6 season career.

For the Red Sox will be Clay Daniel Buchholz who spent much of the season on the DL.
When healthy he can pitch very well as his 1.025 WHIP in 108 1/3 innings this year indicates.

GO RED SOX! :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

A bad game isn't that surprising after such a long layoff, but we know he's better than that.

If the Red Sox were to go on and win this series, it would be the 4th Red Sox vs Cardinals WS matchup (1946, 1967, 2004). It would tie them for most common WS matchup that didn't involve the Yankees, tied with Cubs/Tigers and Giants/Athletics

I am not one to normally bitch about umpiring, but Iasonna just double standarded Max Scherzer
to the MAX when calling balls and strikes.

He let Clay Buckholz have low and outside pitches for strikes constantly earlier, but squeezed Max vs Pedroia twice on the same low and near outside pitches just now.

Sure Max got out of the inning but the toll on his pitch count is unacceptable!

Congratulation Boston

The Tigers had spectacular starting pitching.

Boston was decisively better in every other phase of the game...clutch hitting, fielding, base running (oops Fielder, you beached whale), and bullpen.

So hats off to you, Red Sox.
