Yankees placed RHP Michael Pineda on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to July 6, with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament.

Tommy John surgery has been recommended, although Pineda will receive a second opinion before deciding what to do. It's horrible news for the Yankees and obviously also for Pineda, who is set to hit free agency this winter. If he does go under the knife, he'd be sidelined at least until the second half of 2018 and perhaps until 2019. The Yanks will use Luis Cessa for now as Pineda's rotation replacement, although general manager Brian Cashman wouldn't rule out Chance Adams getting a look.

Sucks for Pineda, but he should just get the surgery and get it over with.

I hate to see this happen to the guy even though he did suck more often than not, he's losing millions because of this.

Simple ground ball to Torreyes that should have been a play at home is instead kicked almost into right.


Chapman wasn't that good, but he did not deserve the fielding behind him.

Bullpen was great tonight until the ninth. Montgomery looked like a scared rookie and we were lucky to come out of the first 5 innings with a 4-3 lead.

Yeah the bullpen was fine until the 9th. I'm just over Betances and Chapman losing games for this team. At least Betances looked normal tonight but you're not going anywhere when your closer ERA is 4.35

It was going to be a bang bang play if Didi gets his throw down where Torreyes can catch it cleanly. Brooks Robinson at 80 years old has more range then Headley does.

Football training camp needs to get here ASAP. I'm done with this team.

We have holes in this team. The bullpen trio of Miller, Betances, and Chapman did not live up to hype last year and with Miller gone this year does not have as much room to mess up.

Headley is a joke that most have over looked because of the problems at firstbase. Ellsbury and Gardner have been running more this year, but both are on the wrong side of 30. Torreyes is a decent utility infielder, but when he has to play everyday his weaknesses are showing.


All said I still think the Yankees can make a run. They do have to get out of this team wide slump and figure a way to win 1 run games. Major league worst blown saves and 1 run game record both have to be turned around.
