King Felix is my prediction as of today.

3 starts. 3 Wins in 9 games. 30 strikeouts. 2 walks. 2.10era

Good luck providing a better prediction right now. Could this be Felix's 1st 20 win season?

Way too early for there to be a "favorite" but I'd be shocked if the winner wasn't one of Felix, Sale, Darvish, Scherzer or Price.

Mid season bump.

11-2, 2.12 ERA, 144.1 IP, 154 K, 25 BB, .901 WHIP

Pretty confident in my prediction here of Cy Young award and Felix's 1st 20 win season.

He's going to need to up that win pace to get 20 wins....he's got 11 wins in 20 starts (so he's won 55% of his starts), and he's on pace for 34 starts, which means he'll need to win 9 of those 14 projected starts (64%).

Knowing how jaded the voters are toward picking aces from playoff teams, even if not always fair, it's what they usually do. That being said, it's not always the best pitchers who gets selected for this, unless his stats just annihilate everyone else's. But as long as it's reasonably close, odds are that the CY is coming off a playoff team. Having said that, unfortunately guys like Sale and Darvish, who are as good as anybody, probably aren't getting that award. Felix is a good possibility if A- his stats wipe up the Earth with everyone else's, or B- His stats are relative to the other contenders for it, AND Seattle makes the playoffs.. which appears to be a decent possibility this time.

If the season ends now, with the M's in the playoffs as they would be, then Felix takes it imo. If they don't make it, and the stats are even reasonably close, then one of the Detroit aces, or maybe even someone like Sonny Gray of the A's, or even Richards of the Angels would come into focus, again, that is presuming the voters act in the manner that they usually do.

Not the case anymore...the voters have been much better in recent years and non-playoff pitchers have won a good amount, and it's not like all of them were the best pitcher by far (such as in 2012, when guys on playoff teams had good cases but didn't win).

The amount of times in recent history it happened:
2012: Dickey
2012: Price
2011: Kershaw
2010: Felix
2009: Greinke
2009: Lincecum
2008: Lincecum
2008: Lee
2007: Peavy
2006: Webb

So in the past 8 years (2006-2013), 10 of the 18 Cy winners were on non-playoff teams.

I think his 7+IP 2ER streak is a lock for Felix. That was historically great, not just really good for a season like Kluber and Sale.

Kluber wins. I disagree, but he had a great year.

kluber was a media darling for the piece of shit of media/tabloid media "establishment" of voters who don't even acknowledge baseball exists west of the Mississippi outside of California.

all of these awards where tabloid media get the vote are pretty much absurd. i'm amazed when votes actually turn out awarding the right person. it's rare indeed.

Not really....if you look in recent years (probably last 7-10), they've been getting it right pretty frequently.

There wasnt a wrong choice between the two. Both well deserving. Unfortunately I think Felix's start in Toronto the last week of the year is probably what did him in because it was fresh in people's mind.

Cy Young maybe. Those are a small fraction of the awards I was talking about.

If you really think that about the gold gloves, then you're a moron.

Gold Gloves are voted on by coaches and managers, not writers.

I can't decide if it being managers/coaches makes it better or worse that they so often whiff so badly on awarding them (Gold Gloves), a la Jeter ever winning one.
