Did someone bring that up once before? Moneybags seems familiar to me - was there a moneybags==pwd connection?

If memory serves me correctly, I think people thought he was Monkeyboy. I think that may be who you're thinking of. But I could be wrong.

Yes, a moron. Who holds a grudge for a long long time. :) I ignore him 98% of the time even when he's biting at my ankles. Also, that sharks guy is only 17 years old, i think. So go easy on him.

I will. I apologized.

It's all good gp, lol. I do find about 75% of his posts void of much worth, but every once in awhile, he says some funny stuff.....and he seems nice enough. I felt bad for him too because you kept hanging him by his own rope. But I think you knew something about him being pretty unruly to 723 or something in the past. If I recall correctly as well, I think he was the reason you and I went at it one time, lol. My how time can change perceptions. I stayed in the fight as long as I could until I realized I was over-matched in the mental capacity department though.....so I had that going for me. :D

As for me, I still think he's a pretty good guy, but a little over the top sometimes for my tastes.

EDIT: Although I'll admit that recently he seems to be even more out of Left Field than usual.....

I think we've all felt the informed wrath of GP. IIRC, he bludgeoned me pretty good a couple years back about the Giants payroll and how the budget is set. Like you and other sane posters, I was willing to admit that I was less knowledgeable instead of digging in and putting my cyberfingers in my ears and shouting NA-NA-NA...

I'm thinking of inviting Sharkfan, but I want to see/establish a little more history with him. He liked Livin's posts, so that's the only thing that's making me skeptical right now.

I'd hold off on him...

Yup. He's (sharkfan) still raking the ball in Triple A. But you and I know how deceiving those stats can be. :)

Yeah, he got my attention because he was disparaging giants723 every other week - years after the guy had stopped posting. Then he delved into moneyball, again ripping 723, and I just stepped in to correct his misunderstanding of a simple concept - didn't have a dog in the fight with 723/beane (even though I have an autographed copy of moneyball - both lewis and beane!). Just couldn't let him mangle an economic concept so blatantly without giving him the benefit of a heads up. And i think you remember the rest. Looking back I applied "The Hammer" to him a little too harshly, although it was mostly tongue in cheek. Well, at least now he doesn't care about 723 :)

Hey, and I didn't mind you stepping in there. I was being an ass.

He seems to have aligned himself with Nolan and SD_Envy.

I know, that struck me as odd too, but it does appear to be the case. Oh well, to each their own I guess.

Ah.... I'd forgotten, Typical ags, after I corrected him about mispricing concepts, he then he spent a few weeks taking swipes at beane and economists (thinking i was a beane fan). That's when the "The Hammer" came down.

I don't recall the events leading up to the "hammer", but I do remember (after our little argument) him trying to stir the pot again with you about something economical or Beane related. I tried warning him that if he kept on shaking the bee's hive, he was eventually going to get stung by the "hammer" (back before you were the hammer, lol). He proceeded not to heed my advice and then.....boom went the dynamite.

+1

The kid isn't ready. Has the right attitude but totally unschooled in baseball.

I am going to hold off, but not due to the kids lack of baseball acumen. I don't think that is very fair. If that was the standard, I wouldn't be here :). I've learned a lot about sabermetrics (and obviously still have a ton to learn.....but they are fun to examine even if I don't know what I'm looking at, lol) and other advanced in-game decisions from the lot of you. I don't think that we should hold posters back based on lack of baseball-smarts. For me, it was fun to learn I was wrong (or at the very least, learned why/what coaches may be thinking with the move) on some decisions that I always thought I was right about.

I'm not extending the invite yet because I'm not sure if the kid is a veiled troll.

I didn't mean that he's not strong with the x's and o's so no invite, I don't think that's a reason to not be here (although he's not). I meant he is a Nolan and Livin-style pantyshatter, who gets all emotional and stupid after one loss.

Which I guess contradicts myself, because that's not the right attitude. He's just more open to seeing his errors than the average uncool board sad sack. Probably because he's young.

That's awesome SFHenanthy, every once in awhile, it's fun to dig up old posts and take a trip down memory lane. Unless it makes me look like a jackass. ;)

There's a "That's what she said" joke in there somewhere.....I'm just not smart enough to decipher where it is and how it should be applied! :D
