Steelers: 7-3
Texans: 7-3
Patriots: 7-3
Ravens: 7-3
Bengals: 6-4
Raiders: 6-4

Titans: 5-5 (we hold the tie-breaker)
Bills: 5-5 (we hold tie-breaker)
Jets: 5-5 (*we currently hold tie-breaker)
Broncos: 5-5 (Denver holds tie-breaker)
Chargers: 4-6

*In order for the Jets to win the tie-breaker, they'd have to lose 1 more game against the NFC than we do the rest of the way. Certainly possible considering they have the Eagles and Giants as their toughest competition remaining. Additionally, if we beat the Ravens Week 17, they'll have to have won next week's game against the Bills. Furthermore, they can't tie us and beat us at 11-5, but they can tie us and beat at 10-6 (or worse) as long as the above holds true.

Ahh the beauty of it. Essentially, every team behind us is at least 2 games back with only 7 to go.

The Titans have Atlanta this week, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Buffalo lose to Miami....San Diego can easily lose this week too (Chicago)....really about the only team that can screw us is the Tebows.....that is, as long as we don't tank....we can really put ourselves in a great position by winning this week......

everyone might as well give up.

Destiny will prove Tim Tebow to be the most confounding QB of all time.

Denver 20 Green bay 17
Superbowl champs.
Tebow will complete 2 of 5 passes, all in the fourth quarter, Denver will have 300 combined rushing yards.

Several people will decide to watch another sport until Tim Tebow retires.

Tebow still wouldn't have won last night if the Jets defense had stayed in their lanes. On 3rd and 4, at the end of the game, they blitzed, and the outside LB went too far inside and nobody had contain on the edge, leaving Tebow with a bunch of open room to run.

The last drive, both teams did something they hadn't done all game.

Denver started going to the "spread" read offense for Tebow...run/pass option with 4 and 5 wide.

Jets countered with a Dime. They had been in the 3-4 base all night long and stuffed the Denver offense all night using the 3-4.

End of the day, an all out blitz there was foolish. No other way to put it. Rex has a habit of doing this late in games on 3rd downs, and gets burned often.

It's a very short field, 3rd down, force Tebow to find an open man. Even if he were to get another 1st down, it doesn't kill you. Even shorter field, have a LB shadowing Tebow and force him to complete a pass into the endzone to beat you.

Oh, I agree with you.

Blitzing on 3rd down is like asking the offense to convert. When the average play for the day is 3.2 yards and you decide that on a 3rd and 9 or whatever that a blitz is needed...you are leaving someone un-covered. Not smart. Just play basic defense and play the percentages that have worked all night.

They used Mark Brunell to prepare them for Tebow... (because he's left handed) ... they are retards...
They were unprepared, they got outsmarted by a desperate man who wants to build another hospital in the Philippines for Jesus. I don't know how long he can go without knowing how to throw a perfect spiral, but it was a beautiful thing to see the Jets lose like that.

From Turk Schonert on footballpros yesterday:

With a 3 point lead and the Broncos on the Jets 20 yd line, Rex Ryan called a blitz on Tim Tebow. Eric Smith was a part of that blitz and became the unblocked blitzer. Tebow is going to have to throw the ball quickly or get sacked. Instead of blitzing upfield to keep Tebow in the pocket, Eric Smith goes inside and allows Tebow to escape around the edge which he turns into a 20 yd game winning TD. For that play Eric Smith, you get the stinker of the week!!!

Steelers: 8-3
Texans: 8-3
Patriots: 8-3
Ravens: 8-3
Bengals: 7-4
Raiders: 7-4 (*we currently hold tie-breaker)

Titans: 6-5 (we hold the tie-breaker)
Jets: 6-5 (**we currently hold tie-breaker)
Broncos: 6-5 (Denver holds tie-breaker)

*No head-head games, so conference record is the next tie-breaker. We're at 6-3 and Raiders at 5-4. However, with the Raiders toughest games being against the NFC (Packers and Lions) and ours being against the AFC (Pitt, Balt, Hou), in all likelihood, if there is a tie, Oakland will either win it outright, or tie us.

In the case of a tie, we go to common games. It comes down to Houston. If we beat Houston, we win that tiebreaker, if we lose, Oakland wins it.

All this is important because Denver wins the tie-breaker against Oakland if Denver beats KC the last game of the season. So, essentially, in order for Oakland to win the division, they have to win as many games as Denver the rest of the way with a tougher schedule.

**In order for the Jets to win the tie-breaker, they'd have to lose 1 more game against the NFC than we do the rest of the way.

Edit me please

Mods: Can I get the original post edited (only record not updated is that of the Ravens)? And a sticky would be nice seeing as the season is coming to a close pretty soon.

So, beat Texans and win 10 and we're in. Got it.
