Now on the account of McGwire's own admission of steroids use it is ridiculous for MLB to say now they have found religion and will like to ban a player because we believe he used steroids rules or no rules.

Your statement makes no sense. Are you saying that because the MLB turned a blind eye to performance enhancing drugs in the past, they should continue to do so?

The only way to try and put an end to it is to start banning players. I guarantee if the 50 game ban doesn't curb the PED use, they will raise it to a full season. If that doesn't work -- they will make it a two year ban. They will continue to make the penalties stiffer and stiffer until players realize how serious they are about getting PED's out of the game.

Personally, as I have said, right now, 50 games is a joke. When players are signing 100 and 200 million dollar contracts. What the hell is 50 games going to do to make them stop? That is a slap on the wrist.

fucking Braun

lying, cheating bastard

I love the fans of the Packers. They don't hold anything back. I haven't dealt with many Brewers fans, but if they are anything like Packers fans, I think I'd like them too.

I have a feeling alot of fans in Milwaukee will be boycotting Braun's restaurant, he has with Aaron Rodgers.

What came out today is the Biogenesis clinic was supplying roids to H.S. kids as well. That's why MLB is trying to get these suspensions finalized fast, and not drag it out. The story is going to get a lot worse, and they are in damage control mode right now because it won't be able to be swept under the rug. The Feds are involved now.

Looks like MLB got more than they bargained for. Will be interesting to see how this shakes out.

Yes, I am saying exactly that. It is a twisted move to ban one player for life who you believe has taken steroids while at the same time you give 50 game suspension to others who did the same thing. That is too discretionary a power not worth an organization such as MLB. If you firmly believe that steroids use goes to the integrity of the game, you do not suspend a player only for the player to come back and earn millions. Suspending a player for a number of games only reinforces the idea that steroids for all intents and purposes is not as detrimental to the game that the media hypocrites have hyped it to be- into a cult status.

I am not saying a player who has retired should or any player including A-Rod should be banned on account of steroids use. Just pointing out the hypocrisy of Selig and MLB in differing attitudes to McGwire and other players. In 1994 the FBI in "Operation Equine" fingered McGwire and Canseco as steroids users but MLB and the hypocrites in the media just yawned. Now on the account of McGwire's own admission of steroids use it is ridiculous for MLB to say now they have found religion and will like to ban a player because we believe he used steroids rules or no rules.

They--"they" being media and the fans--didn't start caring until a guy they hated came along and started to threaten their precious little "714" and "755" and other numbers they've jacked themselves blind over since they were nine years old. You've got a bunch of guys in their late forties and early fifties wanting it to always be "1. Aaron, 2. Ruth, 3. Mays," just like it was when they first started collecting baseball cards in 1976, or just like it was when they first looked at their dad's Baseball Encyclopedia in 1978. My ultimate dream is for Braun to come back next year and get a hit in 57 consecutive games, then all they'd have left is prattling on about how music was so much better when they were in high school.

Moral clause and not the PED usage? This is funny. Therefore using PED is morally okay, just not the lying obfuscation or when the lying interferes with investigation as if it is a criminal probe. Therefore McGwire after lying, and refusing to accept he used steroids for years now fesses up and "All is good?" Morality my foot.

What I meant to say is - you cannot ban someone for life for Steroids.

You can ban someone for life for:

"Players may be disciplined for just cause for conduct that is materially detrimental or materially prejudicial to the best interests of baseball, including, but not limited to, engaging in conduct in violation of federal, state or local law.'' - Article XII (B) of the CBA

MLB will contend that, in addition to lying about performance-enhancing drug use, Rodriguez lied to MLB officials while attempting to sabotage their investigation, according to one of the people.

When asked if MLB is planning to impose a lifetime ban on Rodriguez, union executive director Michael Weiner said in an email: "I can neither confirm nor deny.''
from: MLB prepared to ban A-Rod for life, suspend eight others

It seems they have Arod by the balls on this one. His negotiating power is pretty minimal with the information that has leaked to us and he should just be happy and accept a deal that allows him to step onto the field at some point in his life...

I've said this all along: The biggest liars/hypocrites in this entire scandal are the writers and media.

They knew what was going on the entire time. They were in the locker rooms every day. They were at Spring Training every March. They had their little snickers and jokes and sideways glances, but they never said a thing because they didn't want to jeopardize their inside connections and their relationship with the players. The few writers who did speak out were ostracized, such as Richard Justice (I believe) when he confronted Mark McGwire about his use of andro. They all protected this secret (which wasn't much of a secret because most fans knew as well).

A sports writer's role in the grand scheme is to act as the conduit between the players and the fans. It is their job to report objectively and truthfully. It was their job to report on this issue, if in fact it was an important issue. They failed miserably. Only when they realized how much money could be made off the "scandal" did they turn it into one. The book deals, blog hits and daily columns flowed like wine. They're still suckling at the steroid teet, even though most people are sick of hearing about it, and even though it's really not a big deal at the end of the day. They also ignore the "issue" in other sports because they know the fans won't respond the way they will in baseball due to the sanctity of the statistics. They don't bother to mention the NFL, which has rampant, widespread PED use which is practically league-endorsed. They won't mention it because the fans don't care about the players or the statistics. They only care about the laundry and seeing their team win.

And now, as voters for the Hall of Fame, they get to sit in judgment of behavior they were accomplices to. It's downright disgusting.

Absolute, disgusting truth.

Me too. I can't wait for them to move on to another sport, such as football.

Who is "them"??
I already explained to you why it's not the same in football and to a lesser extent basketball. It's because of Baseball's guaranteed contracts. If you want to disregard the truth I'm generously offering you and instead blame some mysterious "they" that's your choice.

It's not the same in football and basketball because those sports don't have numbers like "61" and "755" that fans jack themselves blind over because they want to pretend it's still 1978 and they're sitting on the den carpet with their dad, watching the ball game while he spins yarns about Roger Maris. Any other "explanation" is bullshit.

And let me guess, Demetrios: Mike Piazza was clean as a whistle his entire career, right?

Hey Matty - I'm pretending that is 1961. So you can take your punk-azz attitude and stick it where the sun doesn't shine. (Is that the NEW phrase for young smart-azzes? - "jack themselves blind"? Wow....really spiffy.LMAO)

Why don't you petition MLB to have the Tigers give back that walk off win against the Red Sox in mid-June, since it was completely due to a PED cheater hitting a bottom of the ninth home run? Since it's all about integrity of the game and all that other Glory of Their Times crap, huh?

And if you're in 1961, could you do me a favor? Could you go find Willie Mays and grab some amphetamines for me? Oh, one more: if it's before July 17 there in 1961, go find Ty Cobb and tell him you've got good news and bad news. Bad news is the separate drinking fountains and movie theater entrances will be gone soon, good news is he won't have to be around to see it.

And tell JFK he might want to stay in the Eastern time zone until the '64 election.
