Bailey did play in the SB. XLVIII. Don't worry. We all know why you didn't remember that one.

“[If] I lined up in the slot, he lined up in the slot,” Smith recently said on NFL Network. “If I lined up as a running back, he lined up as a linebacker. If I parked my car in the parking lot, he was the parking attendant. Champ Bailey lined up everywhere.”

Might be the greatest description ever for him. That should be on his placard in Canton.

I don't know about that one. He played twice as long in Denver as Washington. My guess he goes into the Hall as a Bronco. Time will tell.

In the NFL they don't really pick a team like they do in other sports. When he gets in he will go in as a Redskin and a Bronco. Now of course we as fans will recognize some as true HOF players over others. Such as there are a few other players in the HOF that maybe spent a season with the Broncos but as Bronco fans not sure we really count those a whole lot. I will say though I will count guys like Lynch and Manning when they get in as true Broncos because they played long enough with us and made enough of an impact.

When I think of John Lynch I will always think of him as Buc, and Manning a Colt. Brian Dawkins (one of my favorite players even before coming to Denver) will always be an Eagle. Just the way I see things.

To me Champ is a Bronco.

I can see this with Lynch given how the pinnacle of his career came playing for the Bucs. He gave the Broncos some pretty good years at the end of his career but the Broncos were sort of "also rans" during those years.

As for Manning, I don't consider him a hired gun. He spent an appreciable amount of time here AND replicated and produced on a level that pound for pound exceeded what he did on the team that cut him. It's not that I don't consider him a Colt. But I do consider him a true Broncos for the 4 seasons he gave this franchise.

Yes - thanks for the memory - INO. ;)

I should have said the greatest ever Bronco not to be a Super Bowl Champion. Bailey had a foot problem in the 2013 season - and didn't play in many games, but did play in the playoffs. He had extra on him because Harris got injured. I don't think he really recovered from that foot problem - the Broncos waived him and then the Saints waived him, or didn't pass the physical. Great player - kept my spirits up during a championship dry spell.

I can understand that perspective. However with Manning, he took the team to two Super Bowls in 4 years, won one and set the single season record for offense/touchdowns. No way that he's remembered as only being a Colt. In fact, his greatest season ever statistically came while wearing orange and blue and he went to an equal amount of Super Bowls in both cities. I agree with you on Lynch and Dawkins.

This was my point too. 2012 was the 2nd best season of his career across the board. Then 2013 happened. Even 2014 ranks among one of his better seasons. Sure 2015 was awful but he makes up for it with the way in which he finished. If you handed that story to a movie producer and they'd toss it out as cliche. But it happened and we all saw it with our own eyes. The old vet, clearly unable to maintain the level of play he once did, gets injured and is dismissed as done, comes off the bench to save a game that had post season seeding implications and the lead his team to a Super Bowl win...truth is stranger than fiction. Pound for pound, Manning was a better Bronco than Colt.
