Big time plays from the special teams - especially on opponent returns - McManus is potentially headed to the Pro Bowl - Still the Broncos have the wrong Colquitt kicking for them.

From my eyes Shaq Barrett popped the ball use on one return.

I wanted to make a random comment.

I thought Todd Davis did an excellent job of getting out of the way after attempting a somewhat close punt block. I think a lot of players would have run into the kicker there and he did a good job at sliding to the side to avoid it.

The little things in football that make a difference.

Also Juwan Thompson is turning into a decent kick cover guy. Reminds me a bit of Lance Ball on kickoff coverage. That's what kept Lance in the league for a few years.

Carry on!

As much as this group stunk it up in preseason they have definitely been a pleasant surprise especially the coverage units. I've seen a couple of missed tackles and in years past that usually meant the guy was going to have a huge return. Our guys are swarming this year though and making sure if nothing else just get ahold of the return guy and wait for the Calvary to arrive.

Also I think McManus deserves his own thread as that kid has been money for us so far. I mean these kicks have not been easy and with our offense struggling every point has mattered yet the kid just keeps kicking it straight down the middle. I'll be honest that extra point after we scored the touchdown to tie it up I was actually nervous. He is quickly though eliminating those nerves as he just goes right down the middle.

That's funny; after DC told me about what happpened at the end of the game, I got up and turned it on, and was more nervous about that XP than any other of his kicks, save the first one.

Same feeling LGM. I thought everything has gone well with McMake this year... Then I got this bad feeling in my stomach all I saw were flashbacks of McMiss. Then it went right down the middle and I thought we might be aight this year with this guy!

He is definitely kicking with authority this year. His confidence is sky high and it should be. I do worry what happens when that first miss comes if he goes into a bit of a slump but right now loving what I am seeing and starting to think this could be the next big leg kicker of the Denver Broncos.

A great tradition of Bronco kickers beginning with Gene Mingo.

Agree- It will be how he rebounds after his first miss. Seemed like last year after a miss or two he just had no confidence and neither did we. Everytime he walked onto the field to kick a FG I felt like it was going to be a miss and it was. He really needed that break from field goal kicking to get his mind right and stick around the team as a KO specialist. So far so good this year.

McManus looks great - he's got confidence and looks to have the confidence of the team - very important

No one screaming at him from the sidelines

Manny, how's that QB protection working out in Detroit ?

I don't blame Manny but I think it was pretty obvious last year that the team just had 0 confidence in him and the team was frustrated with how the kicking game was going. So far I have been very impressed with how much this regime trusts McManus to go out there in some very pressure filled situations on some ridiculous kicks and so far he has not let them down. He looks like a whole new player this year and from the sound of it spent the entire off season redoing his step pattern when kicking the ball. It has definitely paid off for both McManus and the Broncos.

I mean can you blame them? McManus was brutally bad last year. It wasn't like he missed one kick and the team lost confidence in him. I mean you have to admit it got to the point where he was out there to kick a FG an you were pretty darn sure he was missing it the week before we finally cut him. Through a PS and two games he has been night and day difference so far. Let's hope it keeps up but I think we can all admit he was BRUTALLY bad last year and his teammmates weren't to blame. I saw people play everything but McManus at times last year. The holder, the OL, the ball boy, the newspaper boy, the hotdog vendor, whatever it was there were no excuses for his poor play last year. You either have it as a kicker or you don't.

He did that he needed to do this offseason to get better and major props to him for that.

OH I agree I did get to a point that I was surprised when he actually made one. I would actually get mad that Fox or Gase would make the decision to take the offense off the field instead of go for it. Thankfully he did put in the work and looks much better with his new foot cadence or whatever you want to call it. The old one from what I understand was supposed to generate a little more power but sacrifice accuracy. I don't think he needs much more power when at 57-yards out the ball is still at the top of the uprights. I can't see us trying any 75-yard field goals where he would need that extra few yards to maybe make it. He did make a 70-yarder in practice though so maybe they do give him a shot one of these games at the end of a half.

When you go to war with your teammates, there must be a bond - a camaraderie .. And Ramirez's reaction, IMHO, was disgraceful, esp considering he couldn't even stay on the field himself and block on FG attempts

You've got a kid with no confidence but all the ability, and as a veteran player, you support that kid ....

Can you imagine a guy like Brain Dawkins reacting like that ?

I will never forget when the Pats started to build the momentum against us last year and I saw McManus going out for a FG.. I was pretty sure at that point he was missing it. NE was gonna have great field position and it was downhill from there.

and it was!

Maybe it's just me but I get nervous on every fg attempt in a tightly played gm no matter who's kicking or if he's 20 of 20 at the time.Too many things, elements, etc can factor into a miss on fg tries. I don't take any for granted and even if it's only a 30 yd fg in a close game and its good, I give kicker and the unit kudos for sure. Very proud of him and fg unit so far.
