I get that is their team, they can play who they want when they want. Just be honest about it with the media and fans. It clearly was not an honest answer. I really doubt they meant it when they said he would play every day and then changed their minds within a day.

Exactly. Like you don't need to lay out all the plans, but saying something like "we'll play it by ear" or "we'll ease him in there"
