If the SP does not qualify due to innings, but still leaves with a lead, it becomes scorers discretion.

I really wish the scorer would have given it to Baragar, just to highlight the absurdity of that rule. That is one rule that has become archaic.

That sounds like a new stat. I would not be opposed to it, but it is KINDA just a bastardization of the PQS.

Why should “the lead” be part of the stat? That is entirely out of the pitchers control.

Using the existing stat, but removing the 5-inning rule is, imho, a minor enough “tweak” that it could still be considered the same stat.

Agreed, the Win is BS anyway, but over a career, it does tend to reflect, kinda, how good a pitcher was.
