Start with this nugget: The everyday veterans who have occupied the infield dirt for the Giants — Buster Posey, Brandon Crawford, Brandon Belt, Evan Longoria and, before he was released, Joe Panik — have 1,112 plate appearances at Oracle Park. They have combined to hit 12 home runs.

Ty France, Wil Myers, Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, Austin Hedges, Franmil Reyes, Hunter Renfroe and Greg Garcia have 163 plate appearances at Oracle Park. They also have combined to hit 12 home runs.

They play for the San Diego Padres. #funfact

...Yet even Posey is outslugging Crawford at home this season, and it isn’t particularly close. It is almost unconscionable how unproductive Crawford has been at home, where he is slashing .205/.281/.271. His home OPS entering Thursday’s game was .551. Johnnie LeMaster’s career OPS was .566.

Ouch!

Buzzards's luck. Yaz on 1st, Belt doubles to deep cf, and of course, the ball bounces into the seats for a ground rule double. Then, Longo hits a week FPOM. This team sucks, and seems unlucky.

I understand that looking at home/road splits can be worthwhile, and using LeMaster as a yardstick is great for shock value, but taking Crawford's home OPS this year and comparing it to LeMaster's career OPS is a bit much, in my opinion. That's not Crawford's career OPS and its not his 2019 OPS. LeMaster's peak seasons had identical .627 OPS in his age 24 and 25 years (and got close, with a .624 OPS, in his age 29 season). Crawford's only season worse than his best, so far, is his rookie year, when he posted a .584 OPS in 66 games.

Just shows how poorly Crawford is hitting at home, that's the point.

You gotta wonder if the park has gotten into the vets' heads. Belt's triple yesterday would have been a homer in about 29 out of 30 ballparks. How much does the psychology play into the dismal hitting at home?

I realize it is the Fish, but Beede and Rogers and Anderson have pitched really well tonight.
So is this this something YB can build on or is this going to be the extent of his success i.e. pitch well against bad teams?

You've could have also just said, "We can't hit...".

Also, we can't lose 100 games!

This milestone happened a few games ago...

A fair question which I expect he'll get the chance to answer in 2020. Even so, if he dominates poor teams and is meh against good teams he'll add value in the rotation.
