Unless the team tanks this week, don’t expect any trades. Understandably, they can’t sell when they are actually in the playoffs. That sets a HORRIBLE precedent. And no way do you BUY in this years climate.

if Ramos is as advanced as is being reported, he may be a contributor next year. Wilson, Bishop And Canaria will probably be ready in ‘22 and Luciano and Bailey in ‘23.

‘23 lineup...

C - Bailey
1B - Bart
2B - Dubon
SS - Luciano
3B - Wilson
LF - Bishop
CF - Ramos
RF - Canario

Clearly that won’t happen (I think Wilson is a 2B long term, not a 3B), but we have a legit prospect at EVERY position.

Edit: Wilson is supposed to be a Crawford-level defensive prospect. Maybe he takes SS and Luciano is moved to 3B.

Don't they need to deal Cueto no matter what?

And how do you feel about dealing Yaz?

If they are in the playoffs, or just a game or two out, no way can they trade Cueto. That would be a PR and clubhouse nightmare.

Same with Yaz.

If they dont tank this week, no trades.

Cueto apparently asked for a trade

Personally I say deal him no matter what, but do not deal Yaz.

???

I don’t see anything about this. Do you have a link?

On the radio they had his agent on here a couple days ago. It's basically what he telegraphed, Cueto wants to play on a contender and the Giants benefit most from dealing him.

This team is re-building. They aren't stupid, there would be no clubhouse issues trading the vet to a contender (like he was traded to KC to win a ring)

Yeah we all agree. I think FZ is too smart to fall for it.

Heck the assassin move might be to deal Yaz. His value is pretty high (cheap deal, raking), but he's 30...will he be a meaningful piece when we are good again in 2 years? If someone offers a can't miss prospect for him...
I think that Yaz may have figured out something. A year plus of consistently good numbers is starting to get beyond SSS. I think, barring injury, he could still be a solid contributor at 32 years old. Of course, he could also hit rock bottom and be dfa'd by 32. If a good deal comes along, I'd hope FZ and Harris jump on it.

No rush with him, can wait for next year on Yaz. But Cueto is a must deal this deadline.

I agree that this team is rebuilding. But if they are actually sitting in a WC position, no way can you blow it up. That just can’t/won’t happen.

Remember this year is a bizarro world asterisk year. Normal rules don't apply.

What does 'WC position" even mean with 5 WCs? They aren't even at .500. This year is bonkers.

I am not sure making the "playoffs" this year (8 teams LOL) would help the ballclub. They aren't winning it all, and they might choose to hold onto Cueto etc if they play for this year. Rebuild means rebuild.

Cmon, man. If they get in...a hot couple weeks...GIVE ME ANOTHER RING.

This is what got them in trouble before...patching up instead of sticking with a plan.

I’m not advocating “patching” anything. I’m saying standing pat wouldn’t be the worst move. How much are you really going to get for Cueto?

I think this FO has proven that they don't care too much about fan reaction, at least (seemingly) to the degree of last regime.

I don't think we need to worry about them buying at the expense of their top prospects. Wouldn't be surprised to seem them made a couple 'buy' trades, but minor things like the Pillar trade. I also wouldn't be surprised if they sold anyone on the ML roster for prospects. I think the team is willing to do both if the right deal comes along.

Obviously you don't give him away for nothing. But if you can get value back, you make a deal. You do not play it like a drive for a championship. It's not.

Just to play devils advocate...

The Giants were not supposed to be good until 2011. 2010 was supposed to be the final build year.

Then baseball happened.

If they don't try to move Cueto it's simply a mistake

This is not a normal year. This isn't really baseball (wouldn't you agree, president of the DH Hater club?)

I want FZ to rebuild these guys not make random runs at 4th wild cards during Asterisk Annum
