Number of wins needed to have 63 wins, and avoid losing 100.

The thing is, last year when they went from best team in the game to worst, I said they were never as good as they were in the first half, nor as bad as they were in the 2nd. In the end they were a wild card team, which was their correct position.

We are not the worst team in baseball even though up to now our record said otherwise. There's a reversion to the mean happening.

If we play .600 ball the rest of the way we will only end up near .500 so no we aren't making the playoffs. But finishing with 75-78 wins seems pretty doable to me.

Hopefully, they won't come close to losing 100. Hope to never see a repeat of 1985. Heck, maybe this team can avoid losing 90. This winning streak has been refreshing to watch.
So we don't make the playoffs and don't get a top 10 pick in 2018? Then it really would be a wasted season.

Said tongue in cheek.

I would rather have 60 wins than 78, personally.

Your preference is probably the way to bet....

I'd rather see some fun games and fun performances and some wins. Yes we get a lower draft pick but I actually enjoy watching my favorite team play well. There's pleasure in a game itself. I've never been a "we didn't make the playoffs so that season sucked" kind of guy.

Is 18 more wins this year worth prolonged mediocrity? I will gladly sacrifice 18 games this season for 10-15 seasons of a Buster Posey or Madison Bumgarner.

Of course, just to argue the other side, the Giants have been extremely lucky in making good picks when in the top 10. Many other teams have failed miserably picking that high.
