he's got a lot of work to do, but he's already much better than Sandy Leon. Leon might be even worse offensively than Kevin Cash was.
Ha! Or David Ross. They've had some real beauties over the years. At least you know that Leon can play defense, though. Swihart doesn't seem to benefit the team on either side of the diamond yet. I know he's young, but he sure doesn't look ready to me.
He's batted .271/.317/.407 over the last 28 days. He's not lighting the world on fire, but it's a huge improvement over what he was doing his first 2-3 weeks. He's going to have his ups and downs.
I really don't think sending him down would help much. The gap between MLB/AAA pitching is gigantic.
He's definitely been better, but the overall picture is still pretty shitty. I don't see any power there at all, but he's still posted 36k v. only 7bb's?? 67 OPS+? Lousy defense? It's just ugly all-around. I feel like we might have been duped by the Red Sox prospect hype machine...again. But I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt because he is young.
he's played 40 games. Jeff Francoeur didn't exactly live up to his first 40 or so games.
I know. I know. I've just been Lars Anderson'd and Ryan Lavarnway'd over the years. I get sick of seeing guys that don't live up to the hype. I'm hoping for the best, but Swihart needs a lot of work before he's even an average player.
