Look at that... they decided to give out free 100 grand bars. Lets hope they don't have razor blades in them.

Depends on how the RP does in the bottom half of this inning.

Well, at least Morris, Osich and Strick looked really good.

Law is a mess, but getting by because his stuff is good.
Hopefully this odd season for him (Law) will help develop him into the closer we all hope he becomes.

14-14 in the last 28, on fire. Only need to go 65-35 in the last 100 for 90 wins. :thumb::yes:

Interesting.

The Giants have appeared to be horrible in the first inning (pitching-wise), so I thought I would look it up...

ERA By inning for the Giants this year (entering today)...

1 - 5.31
2 - 4.13
3 - 2.95
4 - 5.46
5 - 3.54
6 - 6.79 (OUCH!)
7 - 3.54
8 - 3.54
9 - 2.29
Xtra - 3.43

So, the first is bad, but not as bad as it has seemed. I have no idea how this ranks against other teams, though...

1 - +0.2
2 - +0.2
3 - -1.0
4 - +0.9
5 - +0.1
6 - +2.5 (OUCH!)
7 - -0.6
8 - -0.4
9 - -1.4
Xtra - -0.3

Surprisingly, the Giants ERA in the first 2 innings is just slightly higher than league average.

But they absolutely kill the 3rd inning. That makes sense, as that would tend to be the bottom of the lineup, but you would further expect that from the league as a whole. Yet the Giants ERA is a full run lower than the league.

The get and give a half run in the 4th and 5th before we find a major trend...

The Giants give up TWO runs more than the league in the 6th inning. That is rather major, and, I think, falls directly at the feet of Boch and Raggs. I would like to see a further break down of SP vs RPs here, though. But 2 runs more than league average is not a statistical anomaly.

Then they kill it in the 7th inning on, so it doesn't look like the bully is actually a major problem this year. Anecdotally, that doesn't feel right, but on the whole, the Giants seem to be saving about a half run (ERA) per inning starting in the 7th.

Gs are in the middle of the pack re blsvs, and are on pace for 21 this year. Better than last year but way ahead of years '10-'15 when they were regularly in the bottom third with around 13-17/year. God, I just looked at '10 and the Gs lead the mlb in ERA. Oh the good old days.

That is very interesting. I feel like the 6th inning SP vs. relief pitcher thing has been a complaint of us for a few years now. Specifically with running Huddy and Peavy out there too long.

Also the bullpen really isn't as bad as some on KNBR and the national media make it up to be. There are real talented arms down there, though not always used properly. It's not a great Pen I'd say, but dang good, especially missing a key lefty.

2010 is still my favorite year watching the Giants, ever
