Yup. He's gone at least 6 innings in 13 of his 14 starts so he's bound to rack those up. 4 of the 9 he's given up the maximum of 3 runs. And 7 of those came in his first 8 starts. He's been pretty bad for about a month now.

I don't think it's overrated because I don't think many people put much stock into it. I think it tends to be underrated. It essentially shows how often a pitcher is above average. It just happens to work out that way right now as the average starter ERA in baseball is 4.45. Does it have much value comparing top level starters? No. But when looking at 3-5 starters, I think it does. A guy going 6 IP/3ER every time, and a guy going 6 IP/0ER and then 6 IP/6ER, have the same ERA. But one guy gave his team a good chance every time, as opposed to a great chance half the time.

Porcello has been bad for a month, I said that. But he wasn't bad in his first 8 starts at all. He had one bad start against the Rays, but in the other 7 he had a 2.80 ERA with 47 Ks and 7 walks.
