Game Thread: 6.1 The Return of Dozens

Melancon and Panik are back. The 25 man is set, but they still need to account for Melancon’s 40 spot, which has not been announced yet.

Sandoval is officially the only backup infielder. They are looking at him at SS so if Craw needs to come out, they know if they can put him there (preferred) or shift Panik over (not preferred).

Bum is officially (announced, at least) starting on Tuesday. Phalic is expected, but not yet announced, to start on Sunday.

Pence should be activated tomorrow and Hanson later in the week.

Not sure why the Giants can wait until tomorrow on Pence. He started his rehab on May 11th. He would have hit 20 days on May 30th and 20 games on May 31st. Somehow, the Giants get an extra day or two on his rehab.

I know this is harsh, but if Cutch does not start hitting, he needs to move down in the lineup. Hopefully hitting third will help him. But if not...

I only saw him mention, at least on Twitter, that he thinks it would be a good favor to give Tomlinson to trade him closer to home to be with family.

That is what speculation means.

I thought he was throwing out an idea of trading Tomlinson closer to home than sending him to the minor leagues. It didn't seem, to me, to be tied to clearing a spot on the 40 man. In other words, the trade idea and the 40 man spot felt unrelated in his suggestion.

I realize that this is probably minor, but why move Gorkys from the lead off spot? He's been on fire, getting on base at a good clip. Panik is just coming back from an injury and hasn't exactly been the prototypical lead off hitter before he went down. It seems like it would have been better to ease him back in to the lineup in a less production stressed spot in the lineup.
