Good morning........

We all expected at least one undrafted free agent to make the team, but I was surprised that three did it. The lst few cuts must have been agonizing.

Today is the "grab 'em" day. I expect to see at least 8 Patriots get snatched off the waiver wire. Bolden, Carr, Karras, McDermott, O'Shaunessy, Lucien, Freeny and Foster are the first group that come immediately to mind.

They'll place Garcia in the temp IR today so he can come back in 6-8 weeks. My gut says that Karras will be the first guy that they try to get. They kept Cameron Fleming because they need to have back up tackles with Solder not practicing or playing all summer. They kept no depth at OG.

Practice Squad will consist of 3 OL, 2 LB, QB, TE, 2 DB and a RB. In my opinion, which of course, means nothing to BB.

WRs who impress during preseason are a dime a dozen. You'll see Carr on the PS.

I'll be surprised if more than three are grabbed. Frenny, Karras, and O'Shaunessy and wouldn't shock me if none are... As someone else said, Karras is probably back on the team today.

So they had to cut someone to make room for Garcia on the 53 man roster in order to put him on short term IR today? Am I reading this correct....SO once they put Garcia on IR, the can add another player to the 53??

So was Karras the odd man out until this happens. Why not cut the UDFA, I honestly didn't hear about him till last night.

Ya know who was cut and could help in both return game, Jeremy Kearly was let go by SF. He would be the perfect fit, but not sure we have room unless MM ends up on IR.

Another name at WR would have been Travis Benjamin in SD. They are loaded at WR and he can return punts and KP. He was pretty damn good in Clev.

Just throwing out some Sunday thoughts as I am working a double today....ugh!

The new guy from the Colts, Dorsett, will return punts and Dion Lewis will return kickoffs.

Yes and Yes. Garcia will need at least four weeks just to get in playing shape and two weeks of practice to be physically ready to play in a real game. While he's on IR, he cannot be counted against the 53 man roster. The biggest problem is that when he's ready to return, has the guy that took his place played so well that he's starting every week? Who got hurt or replaced?

It's a chess game and BB has to be extremely careful that follows the rules implicently. Don't be surprised if BB makes one or two more trades today.

BB comments seem that more moves are coming. He won't comment on the roster being final yet.

Agree but Carr will be on this team someday. May not be this season or even next. But NE will pull Welker move and get him to replace JE in a year or two.

Transactions 9/4/2017

Re-Signed RB Brandon Bolden; Placed LB Shea McClellin on Injured Reserve; Signed WR Demarcus Ayers and DE Angelo Blackson to the practice squad; Released DL Darius Kilgo from the practice squad.

Now they need to find someone who can fill McClellin's spot on the field, not just on the roster. There must be a couple of LBs out there looking for a good team and a chance to win a ring. Not rookies, but veterans who have both knees and legs in working order.

I don't get BB love affair with Bolden. We lose a starting OLB to IR and instead of grabbing an Ayers or something, we sign a 5th RB with ST skills. Either BB is scared shitless of Hill or Bolden has something on him. What a waste of a roster spot IMO.

None of us has a clue what Bolden brings beyond the obvious stats. Could be his work ethoc and practice habits set the bar for everyone else. God knows the impact of Brady beyond his stats.

BB places Special Team above all else. He has historically spoken about his demands of the Special teams and why he feels that they are so critical to winning in the NFL. Last year, the Patriots attempted to have opposing teams run back the kick off because he didn't want them starting on the 25. When an opposing team had had a better than average returner, he had Gostkowski kick it out of the end zone and brought the ball out to the 25. I expect to see that happen on Thursday against the Chiefs. BB will not allow Hill to run the ball back.

One other stat that gets little notice......on 98% of all kickoffs against the Patriots, the opposition was stopped and tackled before reaching the 25 yard line.

Agree. STs to this team are vitally important and Bolden is a solid ST player.

I was disappointed too and very vocal about it.
Now I see he is inactive again for New Orleans. That is not a good look.....
