This is why I said there is no point to moving on. Self serving bastardization of what was said to prove something that isn't provable.

Stats between teams with no common opponent mean nothing. Period. Stop. End of discussion. This isn't anything new. And is entirely consistent with anything I've ever said throughout the history of college football. You have nothing there.

I've watched both teams. Have you? And I don't mean highlights, I mean full games snap to snap. I saw the pressure Cal had on USC, but of course they still don't have the consistency to be a real threat in the north.

I watched WSU in a couple of games. I've seen what their D line looks like and I don't think they match up as well against USC's Oline. And I'm not buying their secondary. If Darnold has targets that get clear and he has any time in the pocket he will make them pay.

You see I base my opinions of both off what I've seen, not stats on a page. My eyes don't lie to me. Stats lie all the time. If you want to stick blindly to stats between teams with no common opponents then by all means knock yourself out. Trying to use them as some sort of proof of anything will just get you laughed at though.

TL;DR, and quite honestly don't care what you said anyway.

But wait, Cal almost beat USC and they don't have as high of stats as WSU so obviously USC can't win. Right?

Listen dude, don't be bitter because I provided you with a stat that didn't back up your opinion. Provide facts that back up your opinion and we'll go from there. If you can't then what's the point of having a "conversation". Come on man, educate me.

Oh I did. And you attempted to act like you didn't read it because you couldn't come up with a response.

But you keep right on with that failed logic and see how it works for you.

You first have to tell us how stats complied by teams with no common opponents have any relation to each other. Otherwise you know full well you got caught in the stupids.

Washington St couldn't get it going against Boise St at home. Why would they beat USC?

Boise St defense > USC D?

I didn't attempt to act like I didn't read it, I literally saw you commented and proceeded to type my response. Literally 5-10 seconds after. But anyway...

It's like comparing which NFL team has the worst or best offense. It's based on PPG, it's based on total yards allowed. NFL teams don't have common opponents yet we are still able to rank their defenses aren't we? It's the same way in college football. If you wanna go by the eyesight test, that's a different discussion. But I provided you with 1 stat, A SINGLE STAT and all of a sudden I'm an idiot? Get off your high horse and have a civil conversation.

WSU looked impressive against all opponents aside from Boise State and Boise State is a decent team in their own right. Historically, BSU and WSU have always played close games. Last season, BSU won 10 games including one against WSU. Now with that said, BSU and WSU are not the same teams they were last year. WSU is obviously better than last year while BSU isn't as good as they were last year. USC has struggled against every team they've played on both sides of the ball. They could very well be 2-2 right now had Darnold not woken up against WMU and Stanford. USC doesn't look like a top 5 team, they almost lost to an overrated Texas team who couldn't beat Maryland. WSU also has an advantage because this will be their 5th straight home game (don't know how they worked that out), while USC will be on the road for the 2nd game in a row.

On the other hand, USC probably feels like they have something to prove and beating WSU for their 10th straight conference victory in Pullman on enemy soil, that would cement their top 5 status. USC is also 58-9-4 all-time against WSU and the last time they met up, USC blew them out 44-17. I think it's gonna be a close game, 1-score difference, but I ultimately think Washington State completes the upset.

Sometimes having just a bit more offense than the other guise will win you a game or two.

Should be a good game. Better than most of you are expecting I'll bet!

I'm expecting a good game. The pirate will have something up his sleeve, our secondary is talented, but inexperienced. It's on a Friday and weird shit always seems to happen on these weeknight games, especially in the PAC.

I picked USC to win by >10. Wouldn't surprise me if we lost though.

San Diego State wasn't ranked at the time. The currently are but not when they beat Stanford.

Just because the pollsters didn't know how good they were before they played Stanford, doesn't change the fact that they were good.

Stanford was ranked when USC beat them, yet I doubt you'll give USC credit for beating a ranked team because they aren't ranked now.

It only works the way that betters his argument.

You mean by winning 13 straight going back to last season?

No, I mean struggling against WMU in Week 1 and Stanford in Week 2 and almost losing to Texas in Week 3 and Cal in Week 4. USC hasn't looked like a top 5 team all year. Georgia, TCU and Wisconsin have all looked better in my opinion. USC is a top 10 team by default of how crappy the lower ranked teams have looked, but they shouldn't be a top 5 team. Once again, my opinion.
