Between the increased platoon matchups, the fluid closer role and openers instead of starters, baseball really is going to have to redefine how they measure Hall of Fame players. Or will the Hall of Fame merely become a relic of old school baseball?I grant that the SP is likely something of the past. Doesn’t mean I have to like it.
And I will only say it one more time…
GET OFF MY FUCKING LAWN!!
I think games pitched, ERA, WHIP, K and BB rates and other, possibly yet to be fully accepted stats will need to be focused on more moving forward. Wins, IP, absolute Ks, etc will be less important.Between the increased platoon matchups, the fluid closer role and openers instead of starters, baseball really is going to have to redefine how they measure Hall of Fame players.
