San Francisco 49ers – Niner Insider Blog – SFGate.com Report: 49ers hire former Wazzu head coach as offensive assistant
Former Washington State head coach Paul Wulff has been hired by the 49ers as an offensive assistant, according to Cougfan.com.
A former rival of Jim Harbaugh in the Pac-10, Wulff had a 9-40 record at WSU from 2008-11, including a 4-32 record in conference. Wulff, 45, had a 53-40 record at Eastern Washington from 2000-07.
According to the report, Wulff joined the 49ers staff Monday. The team has not officially announced his hiring. Wulff is filling the position vacated by Bobby Engram, who left San Francisco after the 2011 season to become the wide receivers coach at the University of Pittsburgh.
A native of Davis, Wulff was a four-year starter at center for Washington State, playing two of those years under former 49ers head coach Dennis Erickson.
