The only teams that makes sense for the SEC are a team from North Carolina and a team from Virginia. Does Maryland have a large fanbase?

No, and most of the ones that claim they are fans are idiots.

not really

Would the SEC even consider UVA?

I think they would. The SEC wants a foothold in Virginia. If they can't get VT, UVA would be just as good.

I honestly don't see why UVA wouldn't be high on the Big Ten's list.

Yea I would much rather see VT to B1G.

I know the PAC is the hardest for you to predict since you dont have the connection. There just isnt many teams in the west that really will fit in the PAC right now.

What is anyones interest in Rutgers? I know they can bring in NY market but does the NY market even really care about college football? It has always seemed like they care more about the pro sports

B1G's ultimate goal is to get the BTN on regular packages in big cities. I feel like ND would do that for them in NYC because of how many alumni are there. If ND goes to B1G, I doubt Rutgers would.

That would take them off the table IMO. The SEC, Big Ten, and B12 aren't necessarily looking for championship contenders. They already have those. Are some expansion targets contenders? Of course, but what they are really looking for are new areas with a lot of ''eyes'' to watch the product.

GT would give them Atlanta.

right

Do you think that id Clemson was kind of left waiting there and it came down to uva, clemson or maryland, they would overstep south carolina and let them in

No. I think they would take UVA. Carolina doesn't have as much pull as Florida and Georgia in that regard so I could see them voting in favor of Clemson over Maryland. Clemson has a strong SEC-like fanbase and their boosters are loaded FWIW.

Maryland brings zero to the table IMO. Maybe someone can correct me on that.

If it weren't for impending NCAA sanctions I think Miami would get an invite over Clemson. Carolina only got in because Miami turned down the invitation years ago.

never have i seen this. FSU maybe but no miami invite.

Also i hate the idea of 16 team superconferences. why people think going to leagues this big is a good idea is beyond me. why be in a conference together if you will hardly ever face each other. what would be so wrong with 6 12-14 team leagues and two at large bids? this way leftover acc/big east teams can make a conference and some mwc/boise/cusa merged teams get a slot also.

Quick Google search.

1990-1991 SEC Expansion - Arkansas & South Carolina join Southeastern Conference | Saturday Down South

On May 31, 1990, the SEC presidents voted to authorize expansion, identifying six schools as potential members: Texas, Texas A&M, Florida State, Miami, South Carolina and Arkansas.

Four days after spurning Florida State, Kramer met with Miami, one of the two remaining expansion candidates. South Carolina’s trustees had preemptively voted to accept an SEC invitation should one come. Miami was decidedly less enthused.
