Conference Projections, 5/18/2012

Remember, this is entirely conjecture based on the tone that I have heard and what I take from it and is subject to change a bunch of times. There will be 20 different versions of this and 500 rumors before it is all done. 2014 appears to be TH year. The BCS needs to decide how the final four will be selected. If it is conference champions, look for four major conferences to ABSOLUTELY be born. If it a selection committee thing, things get more shaky. The percentages are my confidence)

These are my projections based on the four conference system:

B1G
Ohio State
Michigan
Michigan State
Wisconsin
Penn State
Nebraska
Indiana
Northwestern
Iowa
Illinois
Purdue
Minnesota
Notre Dame (70%)
Rutgers (15%)
Georgia Tech (50%)
Pittsburgh (30%)

SEC
Alabama
Auburn
LSU
Ole Miss
Mississippi State
Arkansas
aTm
South Carolina
Florida
Tennessee
Georgia
Vanderbilt
Kentucky
Missouri
NC State (50%)
Virginia Tech(40%)

Big XII
Texas
Texas Tech
Baylor
TCU
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Kansas
Kansas State
Iowa State
West Virginia
Florida State (80%)
Clemson (65%)
BYU(20%)
Miami(20%)
Louisville (70%)
Cincinnati (50%)

Pac 12
Cal
USC
UCLA
Stanford
Arizona
Arizona St.
Oregon
Oregon St.
Washington
Washington St.
Utah
Colorado
UVA (10%)
UNC (10%)
Duke. (10%)
Maryland (10%)

Needless to say, some of these are stretches at this point but I am building on a four 16 team conference model and will only put a team in one league at a time. The Pac 12 is the toughest to fill in so this week , I can see them making an eastern pod. Once again, this is based on a four conference, 16 team per conference model.

What caused the changes for this week? Just hearing things?

I say there is zero chance of the PAC having an east coast pod. Not arguing, just saying :)

My B1G contact has been really really quiet and there is a lot of VT/SEC talk on the webs. I still think they end up in the B1G but I have no idea who the 16th would be in the SEC, and I don't want to put a team in two spots.

Personally, I agree. This is tough to do though.

Lets say 14 ends up being the magic number, what are the two most likely/best ''qualified'' schools that could be PAC targets that somewhat make geographical sense?

Since when does Tech have intrest in the SEC? I thought they came outright and said they didn't want to join? I'd love them to be in our conference.

They turned don an invite last year but that was when it looked like the ACC was going to survive.

VT to SEC.

ACC to Pac

Rutgers to ....anywhere

Yea I would much rather see VT to B1G.

I know the PAC is the hardest for you to predict since you dont have the connection. There just isnt many teams in the west that really will fit in the PAC right now.

What is anyones interest in Rutgers? I know they can bring in NY market but does the NY market even really care about college football? It has always seemed like they care more about the pro sports
