Still early but Lee looks even better than he did at any point last year, and Yaz is raking too.

Bailey worries me. Wade too but he at least has a track record, Bailey really has to be able to hit enough to be the primary catcher. .700 OPS is all I ask.
Not much productivity out of 2nd base either

Meh, that's not as big a deal, can try different people there. Hard to replace Bailey's defense so he needs to hit enough to play 70% of the time.
We have some guys running hot (JHL, Flores, Yaz) and that won't last forever. Early days but I'd want Fitz/Koss/Schmitt/Whomever to have some confidence and not press when needed

Agreed on Bales. Not ready to hit the "worry" button yet, but I'm close.

Dude's ABs just look awful.

Adames should get hot at some point. Matos is crushing the ball. All in all, I think we are ok.
My biggest fear about Bailey is that this is early season Bailey. We all know late season Bailey.

It's perfectly fine if your catcher is your worst hitter, he just has to be at least able to hit better than a good hitting pitcher used to

This is a reminder how much having a HOF level bat at the position was a huge reason we had a dynasty. Think of the bonus of that.

I’m so glad they kept Flores, I’m glad he was good enough for spring training for the Giants to keep him.
And this is why I trust Buster (not saying he’s perfect by any stretch). He knows the baseball thing and how that person interacts with the clubhouse and if they had injuries. It’s not about winning the offseason with signings or being “shrewd”. It’s about winning baseball. I don’t dislike Farhan and think he’s a super smart dude, but he seemed to want to win on the margins and winning trades even if it wasn’t minimal upside.

Buster went and got his (hopeful) game changer in Adames right away and then got a proven winner to teach the young kids on the bookend.

For sure, not everyone is going to be a good hitter, but Bailey has to at least be adequate.

I was just thinking how Bailey has started his previous two seasons hitting well and then absolutely tanked with the bat in the 2nd half. Maybe he's going to reverse it this year?

exactly right on both counts. We have options at 2b: Fitz, Koss, Chasey, Basabe, Wise.

And if its still a problem at trade deadline, we can get Lowe from the Rays.
