Game Thread: 4.29 Gnats @ Lumber

As near as I can tell, this awful loss is mainly on three pitchers and some horrible glovework at shortstop, with a couple of bad pitching performances with inherited runners to boot. As least with Marte he'll be gone May 2nd and Castro made it easy for him to go back down when the COVID guys come back. Wood, Garcia, Crawford and, probably, Beede we are stuck with. Fortunately, Crawford is still a good shortstop (just a bad night). Garcia and Beede just need to not be put on with traffic on the bases. Wood, will, time will tell.

I turned the game off in the 6th (?? The second big inning). Further, I haven’t looked at the box.

The Giants were distracted. There was a lot of “noise” around the organization. AND they were playing extremely short handed.

This awful loss featured six pitchers who ran the gamut of mediocre and lucky to absolute shitshow. Not ONE threw well.

Wood -- he's a #3/#4 pitcher, these starts will sometimes happen.
Marte -- gone
Garcia -- a blip of mediocrity
Llovera -- lucky, and gone
Castro -- shitshow, he's likely going back to Sacto
Beede -- lucky and gone.

Castro is a stud. He is just a kid. He will have his own blowups (as every single pitcher in the world and every single pitcher in the history of the game), but he will especially have blow ups in these games where the momentum is just overbearing.


I will add again, though, that the Giants heads were not in this game. Lots of irl distractions going on last night.
