He's been doing that all year, and they asked him about it, he said your starters gotta give you innings, you can't pull them too early even if they are struggling, you'll burn your bullpen.

I don't think he was wrong to leave him in there.

It's understandable, but Boch stuck with for too long.

Would have been pretty ballsy for Boch to pull Zito in the 4th with two outs.

But it would have been the right move. Zito had lost it. The outs (and the error) were all loud, and he wasn't hitting his targets with the fastball.

And mercifully, the inning ends.

I think that also factored into the longish hook for Zeets, we had 5 runs and looked like we could score. So giving up 5 just makes it a new tie game again. If we were only up 1-0 and Zito makes it 3-1, maybe Bochy does something different, who knows...
