I believe the proper terminology would be "Hebrew Bible Scholar."

I have a friend who was going for an PhD in Hebrew Bible at Claremont. He did great. Until having to pass the language exam in Akkadian. Or was it Ugaritic? He now coaches cross country and track for the local high school. And can "encourage" them in several obscure languages.
