BELTED!!!
100 is still an insane number. Even for a “powerhouse” team. If the Giants get 98+ or so, you can’t really say there was any drop off. When you get into that stratosphere, 100 - 107 is basically the same thing. After 9 games last year? It was mid year when we all started wondering if the winning was real or a mirage, turned out to be real.
107 again isn't happening, that was pretty flukey. But I had them at low 90s like 92-94 wins but now maybe 100 is in play?
In today’s game? That means nothing.Careful. Bart has 22 ABs, and 13 Ks. That doesn't project well. 260 Ks?
I wouldn't say nothing but Ks just don't matter like they used to.In today’s game? That means nothing.
It would be interesting to see how Kingman or Deer would be treated in today’s age.I wouldn't say nothing but Ks just don't matter like they used to.
As William F Buckley would say, that's like being the tallest building in Wichita.Nice bomb by Belt. He is the best hitter on this team, but he would also be the best hitter on my nephew’s little league team. Neither says much.
good enough?
At least when you K, you're not hitting into a DP. And you're making the pitcher throw at least three pitches. So maybe there's some Billy Ball wisdom there.I wouldn't say nothing but Ks just don't matter like they used to.
I am not certain that squeezing a few pitches out of a pitcher means what it used to mean. It seems like the deciding factor for pulling a pitcher today is times through the lineup more so than pitches thrown. At least when you K, you're not hitting into a DP. And you're making the pitcher throw at least three pitches. So maybe there's some Billy Ball wisdom there.
Will 9 and/or 35 be retired by the Giants eventually?
Yep, in the new game Ks are just outs. Only with a guy on third less than 2 outs do they matter, and like you said they reduce DPs.At least when you K, you're not hitting into a DP. And you're making the pitcher throw at least three pitches. So maybe there's some Billy Ball wisdom there.
Ks are ok if you're getting walks too. I don't remember them being OBP guys but I could look it up.It would be interesting to see how Kingman or Deer would be treated in today’s age.
The Giants should market something like this.
You're welcome, btw.And we score some runs. Maybe we can sneak Beede in there?
If he weren’t already on the wrong edge of the bubble, I would say that was an acceptable outing. But he needs to string together some clean innings to change his status, imho.Might be the Beede swan song...
OTOH, you can't expect him to throw zeroes up EVERY outing. So far, 2 G, 3 IP, 1 ER, 3.00 ERA. S'OK. Maybe he can keep this up until the trade deadline, and be a PTBNL.If he weren’t already on the wrong edge of the bubble, I would say that was an acceptable outing.
