The team looked like crap early, and based on recent performance, there was no reason to think otherwise. By the end of the game, Cain turned in a gem-let, Gearrin was nailz, and the bats came alive.

As I said, best game of the year easy. This is supposed to be fun!

Almost a FYWW effort from the bullpen tonight. Well done! Nice to see some runs score, too. I'll bet Parker was very relieved with that triple in the 7th.
That thing was jacked. He is a very streaky hitter. If he is getting hot, he may have enough bat to carry the team for a series or so.

And note that it looks like Strickland has officially become the primary setup man...

I would have liked to see Strickland come into the 7th inning there personally. Or even the 6th to put out that fire.

Nice to find out we have some other guys who can get it done under pressure...

Honestly, it was a great spot to put Gearrin in the 6th, if he wasn't going to go with Law/Strick. 3 righties in a row, and Gearrin is much better versus right-handers than left.

The guy hasn't impressed me much, but that certain did.

I'm sorry you need to pull Cain here, but full credit he pitched way better than anyone expected. Maybe a few more starts if he is ok like this.
He's going to get four more regardless.

Say he gives us two good starts, two mediocre, and two disaster starts.

What do you do in May? Call up Beede?

So far, he has had 1 disaster and 1 mediocre/good start (sorry, 5 innings does not qualify as an unquestioned "good" start).

Beede has 1 start so far, going 6 IP with 1 ER, 5 hits, 0 BB and 3 Ks. I would like to see him get 4 or 5 more starts (based on performance, of course) before he is called up. So unless we want Blach to take over, that gives Cain 4 or 5 more weeks. I think Beede is the primary driver of this discussion at this point instead of Cain, though.
