Not that long ago, Jones, Machado, and I think, Markakis were also north of .300. They've all been in freefall since. What do you guys attribute that to? Lack of plate discipline? Better pitchers? Of course, then again, this lineup has made no-name pitchers looking like Cy Young-caliber pitchers....

Sometimes I wonder if Jones doesn't decide to swing before the ball even leaves the pitcher's hand..

The way i see it the count indicates whether they will swing or not other than b rob, markakis and mcclouth, everybody else the count dictates whether they swing or not...

other than the 3 ive named:

*there isnt one guy in this line-up that doesnt swing at a 2-0 pitch
*there isnt one guy in this line-up that doesnt swing at 3-1 pitch
*most of the time they swing at the first pitch and dont get to see a count

who do i credit this?
*3. jim pressley - his main teaching point is driving the ball to the opposite field (not swinging at hitters pitchers

*2. buck showalter - giving everybody the greenlight on any pitch - no punishment or recourse for guys getting themselves out, not making the pitcher work, not playing small ball and accepting a hitter striking out with a man on 3rd with less than 2 outs AND THEN MAKING EXCUSES FOR THEM

*1. the players - not adjusting to what the pitchers are trying to do, not thinking team fundamental baseball, thinking you can hit 8 run HR's all the time, not learning counts, playing selfish- instead of hitting the ball to the right side with a man on 2nd and no outs to advance the runner or working the count...AND NOT LEARNING FROM THEIR MISTAKES...if its broke FIX IT...not 1 person on the team hitting over .300 SOMETHING IS BROKE AND IS NOT OK

I'm just as perplexed as you are however, our bp has been the biggest disappointment. In all likely hood, today's game will be lost to the bp. Franky is just awful!
