Does anyone else feel like it's the most underappreciated sitcom of ever?

great show...not sure of giving it the title of most underappreciated sitcom ever, but it is definitely underappreciated.

What's the definition of "under appreciated"?

3rd rock lasted 6 seasons and was able to have a proper finale.

Arrested Development only had 3 network seasons and was under threat of cancelation every year.

Better Off Ted only lasted one season.

I would say both of those shows were AT LEAST as good as 3rd Rock, but MUCH more "under appreciated".

That's fair. I was more thinking of now though. In its time it wasn't underappreciated, but it seems pretty forgotten now. Arrested Development was way underappreciated, and then everyone latched on when it was canceled. It's even been picked up again.

I'm more thinking, if you ask people to make a list of their favorite sitcoms, I'm guessing most probably wouldn't include 3rd Rock, many would (rightly) include Arrested Development. Mine would include 3rd Rock damnit...

3rd rock would not even make my brainstorm short-list, so I guess I would say that it is not under appreciated.

Not accurate or complete, but off the top of my head sitcoms that are better than 3rd Rock (IMHO).

Same. Though Friends has grown on me a little bit, maybe it's a nostalgia thing, because I wasn't a huge fan when it was on.

This is what made me think of it in the first place. My wife had it playing in the bedroom when I went to bed, we have the whole series, but I remember it being a real bitch to find the later seasons some years ago when we were determined to get them. I think it's a bummer that no where plays reruns, but you can't click through 10 channels without hitting Friends or Seinfeld...

That's one sitcom I just don't get tired of, always makes me laugh. I can't remember the last time I saw a station air that show though. And it's odd that you had problems finding the later seasons. I found the first 4 no problem. The last 2 took some time though.

John Lythgow is a pretty talented dude. We did some work for him about a decade ago and he was very gracious and polite.

He is/was a great actor. He can do comedy, drama, romance, suspense...

And do them all to a high level.
