I disagree with Beau, as he's the only backup to Logan, isn't he? We need 2 NT's.

He's not really a NT. That's not his game. Definitely not stout enough at the POA.

We'll agree to disagree. I think he's a pretty good NT, at least as a backup.

Watch him closer this year. He ends up going backwards. He can still make plays because he tries hard and actually moves decent, but he is not stout at all.

updated. Prosinski and Braman I suspect are all but on the team for their special teams. 7 open jobs.

My pre camp projection. Bubble guys are in Bold. Game Day Inactives are in underlined

WR (6). Matthews, Agholor, Huff, Miles, Cooper, Seyi (ST)
RB (3). Murray, Mathews, Sproles
QB (3) Bradford, Sanchez, Tebow (Because he can do read option and Barkley sucks, and he is not practice squad eligible)
OL (7) Peters, Johnson, Kelce, Barbre, Tobin, Gardner, Molk (I think only 7 on the 53 man roster and the remainder will be on the practice squad).
TE (3) Celek, Ertz, Burton (ST)
Jack of all Trades (1) Kinne

DL (7) Cox, Logan, Thorton, Curry, Allen, Hart, Bair
OLB (5) Barwin, Smith II, Graham, Bramam (ST), Long
ILB (6) Kendricks, Alonso, Ryans, Hicks, Jones (ST), Goode
S (3) Jenkins, Thurmond, Maragos (ST), Prosinski (ST)
CB (6) Maxwell, Carroll, Rowe, Shepherd, Boykins,

Specialists (3) Jones, Parkey, Dorenbos

Practice Squad
Mihalik
Reynolds, Evans, Watkins
Graf, Boyko, Manhart, Coccia (rounding out the OL crew. These guys have no guarantee or pedigree so its safe to go light and leave them on the practice squad).
Tucker
Devante Davis

Guys with a legit shot to make the team. (But not listed on the practice squad)
Barkley
Vandervelde
Kelly
Andrews
Couplin
Wolff

Updated. No Boykins, Shepherd and Long. I an going Tomlinson at TE with Ertz possibly sidelined early. And Randall Evans and Watkins squeaking in at CB. No Kinne as I don't think he played much special teams on Sunday. This is heavily influenced by the Special Teams snaps from Sunday.

RB (3). Murray, Mathews, Sproles
QB (3) Bradford, Sanchez, Tebow (Because he can do read option and Barkley sucks, and he is not practice squad eligible)

Looking at Special Teams contributions we should be able to hone in really close on a final roster.
- Its worth noting that evidently Rowe, Biggers, Reynolds and Hicks have carved out significant special teams roles as they are listed on 3 teams each.

Making the Roster: Special Teams Stars

Game Day Active Projection....
WR (6). Matthews, Agholor, Huff, Austin, Cooper, Seyi (ST)
RB (3). Murray, Mathews, Sproles
QB (2) Bradford, Sanchez
OL (7) Peters, Johnson, Kelce, Barbre, Gardner (+2 active)
TE (3) Celek, Ertz, Burton (ST)

DL (6) Cox, Logan, Thorton, Curry, Allen, (Hart or Bair)
OLB (4) Barwin, Graham, Bramam (ST), Jones (ST)
ILB (4) Kendricks, Alonso, Ryans, Hicks (ST)
S (4) Jenkins, Thurmond, Maragos (ST), Reynolds (ST)
CB (4) Maxwell, Carroll, Rowe (ST), Biggers (ST)

Specialists (3) Jones, Parkey, Dorenbos

That almost has to be your 46 man game day roster. Who is left for the inactives?

Game Day Inactives

- 1 QB (Tebow or Barkley) - They can't put the QB on the practice squad due to their previous experience, so he should be game day inactive
- 1 DE (Hart or Bair) - Will be kept on the 53 due to contract
- 1 OLB (Smith II) - Will be kept on the 53 due to contract
- 1 RB (Barner) - Will be scooped up if exposed, so they keep him.
- 1 CB (Watkins) -Likely kept as he has a 5th round contract.
- 1 ILB (Goode) - Not practice squad eligible?
- 1 OL

- Note there is no Couplin, Acho, Prosinski or Kinne on this list.
- This assumes they only keep 8 OL on the 53

- also worth noting that Smith II may be inactive again. Curry would likely be the third OLB in this scenario.

There are some really tough decisions here. Any of the game day inactives could be cut to make room for an OL. If Smith II is your 3 OLB, then who sits? Why keep Barner if you aren't going to have him active for special teams? Ditto for Goode.

I have punted on understanding the OL competition to this point. Based on snap counts, where are the contenders for the backup spots...

David Molk
Dennis Kelly
Julian Vandevelde
Matt Tobin
John Moffitt.

Three of these 5 likely make the team with 2 being game day active.

Based on PFF (which I take with a few grains of salt), Molk and Kelly are the two best performers from the last game and the rest all suck.

Shurmur seems to like Kelly as well. It would look like Molk and Kelly as the game day actives at this point and maybe Tobin? as the 8th guy?

Moffitt better step it up, but I think's lost a step or two. I think Kelly's done too. So Molk, Vandy, and Tobin should make it. Perhaps Bunche is in the mix, or PS.

Shurmur today was praising Kelly. I think he is in.

Maybe, but I doubt it. Kelly hasn't showed anything except he looks like a girl with a beard. He's very soft, and his case little guys beat up a big guy.

From today's pressser.....

Kelly said conversations about how many players to keep at each position are still ongoing between the coaches.

"We've got these three days, and then we've got the game against the Jets before we say we want to keep three tight ends, or four running backs, or two quarterbacks, or nine DBs, or whatever. We'll get to that point."

....Also, Kelly raved about Dennis Kelly. It would be a surprise if he does not make the team.

I think all options are on the table including going with 2 QBs. The backup spots are about who will get picked up by another team, their current contracts and their special teams play. There is not a set amount of players at a position.

Separately, it sounds like neither Bradford or Sanchez will play the final game and we will see a first half of Barkley and a 2nd of Tebow. The order is important as it clearly signals who is ahead on the depth chart, but I think both players need to show something to convince the coaches not to go with just 2 QBs. They need to show that some other team will pick them up if they are cut.

Bubble Players who have jobs on the line this week...

Barkley/Tebow
Moffit/Vandevelde (I think Tobin, Kelly and Molk are likely in. These guys are fighting to knock one of these guys out or convince Kelly to keep a 9th guy)
Biggers/Watkins/Evans/Rice for final 1-3 CBs
Reynolds/Prosinski/Couplin for final 1-3 Safeties
Goode/Smith II. (Smith II may go to IR)

I think Barner is in already
