Checking out the numbers I would say the favorites at this point in the season are Felix, Yu, and Tanaka.

Kluber might be one of the dark horse candidates though. Way too early to know though. Tanaka might not be as strong in the second half, but I would expect Yu and Felix to be neck and neck down the stretch. Felix has two more starts than Yu, so give Yu two more starts and I think they are closer in fWAR.

Yu will likely be the only AS the Rangers send this year. I hate the ASG, but I can see people making arguments for him to be the starter. He and Felix both deserve it that's for sure.

Also, while I don't expect Tanaka to put up a 1.85 ERA the whole year, I have a feeling the dude will be worth his contract. I know I will get some disagreements on that one, but whatever the guy is performing.

Kuechel, Darvish, Buehrle, Gray, Kazmir, Kluber, Scherzer and Lackey all have about as much of a chance as anyone aside from Tanaka and King Felix, IMO.

I think Tanaka continues to perform at the level he has through this season and while I don't think he will put up as staggering numbers next season, I do believe he will make adjustments as the hitters make adjustments and he will still be a #1 for that Yankee team. So they paid for what he will give them with that contract IMO. There is still lots of time left but in the AL its probably going to come down to the three of Tanaka, Darvish and Felix as the top CY vote getters.

As for the AS game, I like the exhibition but I think it should be held at a venue that has either a roof or warm weather and probably after the WS instead of mid season. The break should be just that in 162 game season and let all players from every team have the rest instead of trying to play an exhibition game. There is so much that goes into trying to figure out which candidates are going to go and start the AS game, and did they pitch on Sunday or whatever the week before. Like last year Darvish being skipped a start or going on the DL to get him extra rest and to avoid him pitching in the AS game. Guys probably enjoy being voted to the AS game and want to play in it, however teams and their FO want to do whats best for their players.

Just a thought

What makes you think that?

Kluber I don't agree being a candidate. He gives up a hit every inning. His K's are up there yes., but overall his stuff isn't as solid as say a Tanaka or Darvish.

It should be a wild race between Yu, Felix, and Tanaka. Too many walks is hurting Darvish. His whip is 1.13

Phil Hughes has a better whip than Yu.

If Darvish could figure out how to manage his pitch counts early and could cut down his walks, while the team is scoring runs for him to rack up wins, he could probably be the AL favorite.

It's his first season in the MLB. Hitters make adjustments. Do you expect him to sustain a .278 BABIP

Phil Hughes having a flukey season doesn't really mean dick to me though. Good for him for having a lower WHIP, but also having a lower LOB%. Less guys getting on base doesn't really mean much when they score more often.

I agree on Tanaka- seems legit to me and people were saying the same things about Yu when he can up. I also think he will get a slight edge in the voting if he keeps this up and even regresses some just because the team he plays for.

Also, even though none of us see him keeping it up, I think Mark Buehrle has to at least be in the conversation for now.

Agree on Yu possibly being our only AS too. Although, I can see maybe Beltre or Rios sneaking in for a bench spot.

Buehrle has to be the favorite with the season Toronto is having and he has the wins. No way they would honor Darvish with the season the Rangers our having. Somehow it's all wraped up together, IMO.

Buehrle only has 52 K's on the season thus far. 5 K/9 IP.
No where as dominant as the top 3 in the AL.

This is a terrible comment... SOs are not important in this... SO is the least important statistic for this award...

Um, :wtf2:

K's weigh heavily, along with wins, ERA, and WHIP.

How on Earth do you figure K's carry no weight when voters elect a CY winner?

We're not going to the World Series this year...... Go team NL... Such a bullshit rule. We deserved HFA in at least one of those WS.

I nailed that one.

Hey I was also right about Tanaka not being as strong in the secondhalf...To the tune of him not pitching anymore.

Corey Kluber was the dark horse. I was right. Fuck that guy who told me I was wrong early on! He was a yankee homer though, so big shock right?
