Not sure why Diaz would be optioned if he has a better chance of making the team. I would think that they would have held him in big league camp with Crawford uncertain. I know that the Giants can recall Diaz if Crawford goes on the IL, but I think Wisely has passed him on the depth charts.

But I don’t put a lot of weight in that. We have seen optioned players break camp in the past.

As I mentioned, it doesn't mean a player doesn't make the team, but considering that Crawford is already questionable, why would they option a guy if he is being looked at as a possible replacement? I think the option is telling. However, should another infielder gets injured, I think the option doesn't necessarily play into him making it in place of that guy.

If Webb continues to get better, and Cobb continues with what he did in the 2nd half of last year, and Manaea bounces back well and Stripling's 2022 isn't a fluke, this rotation is going to be good and I may eat crow on my team record prediction.
