you may not notice him because you watch hockey games.
occasionally, a 'Shelley' will grunt onto the ice for a few seconds and bleed or take a penalty. sometimes both.
You may often wonder "Why is my team shorthanded when we have been carrying the play?"
Quite often, the answer is a 'Shelley'.
I'd ask you to keep an eye out for one the next time you watch a game, but really - it would probably only upset you.*

Every morning I wake up. From there all I can do is hope that, by some miracle, that Paul Holmgren, remembers that Shelleys are allowed to be waived, thus opening up $1.1 million in cap space. Every morning my dreams are crushed, and the cycle repeats.

This may be a blessing in disguise, however, as Homer may forget that Shelleys have a 1 way contract and that he may bring a Shelley through re-entry waivers. Then again why would someone want a Shelley for even half price?
