I actually got my 1,000 rounds in about 4 weeks... but that was about 2 months ago. Backorders may have gotten even worse... but I got mine.

I have found 9mm and .40 before I found any .22 that wasn't the CCI Swamp People box that is like $40 for 300.

I have had my luck trading 9mm for 555 boxes of .22 with my friends.

I found some really crappy .22lr that I had in my ammo closet. So now I've got 500 rds of surak .22 shells.

I was in Wisconsin last weekend w/ family for a relative's HOF induction. While there, decided to check out a local sporting goods store. As luck would have it, they had just got an order of .22 LR ammo and my step-son and I each got 1 (limit) box of 325 rds for $20.00 apiece. Hardest part was trying to get it home to AZ on the airline. Wish I could've gotten wife and every relative with us at the store to buy the 1 box limit at that price. Might have been worth packing it into a case and shipping it to AZ by air cargo or either UPS/FedEx, if either would ship it.

I can't find .22 rounds anywhere around here. WTF is going on? It would seem that these ammo manufacturers would be pumping out the shells with demand as high as it is. Expand the factory or whatever. People want the rounds, the opportunity is golden to make above and beyond what they normally do. I'm missing something.

I have a social group of folks in my area that we can alert each other when a store has a certain ammo. The box limits are generally 3 so someone finds it we send it out and swarm at the place to get it.

I believe that the manufactures are being paid to NOT make it as fast as possible and not expand.

I would say you are looking at 6 months before the manufactures can get caught up. There is to many people out there trying buying up everything they can and hoarding thousands of rounds.

I don't think that's true. I bet they're running at capacity in most cases but they don't want to expand because this demand is just artificial. It will go away and they'll be left with an unnecessary expansion in most cases. Even if they were to expand, it's not like it would happen in the 6 months where the ammo shortage has happened. A new factory or more producing power probably couldn't even get going until early next year if they started the process earlier this year. That's a lot of equipment and machines to buy, set up, test and start producing a product off of.

The real problem is that people are going out any buying the entire shelf. A guy who used to walk into a store and buy two boxes is now buying 10. Either 1. to sell it for profit or 2. because they're afraid they won't be able to find it again any time soon. But this is seriously hurting all shooters.

Seeing all the ads for "cheap" .22 ammo that's way overpriced, I think some people bought out enough supplies to create these shortages so they could resell at huge profits when this run on ammo took off. I personally don't NEED to go shooting that bad. I'll be patient and wait for chances to buy a brick when it's reasonably priced. Even if it's limited quantity, I can slowly build my supply back up.

Cabelas in Kansas City KS....has it come in about twice a week...and they have never raised the price...can't get it in bulk anymore but they have it quite regularly...and out of state people have even been there...pretty incredible actually.

PS...the 22's are the last to be made....nobody is getting paid to not make it....the calibers the militarty and police use will always be made first....hunting calibers next....22's are for fun...a step above cap guns....conspiracy theorists pick something else than 22 cal bullets...lol
