Everything I'm hearing is that this is a good class. Which RBs matter?

NFL MOCK DRAFT DATABASE
1. Ashton Jeanty, Boise State - 1st round, 9th overall pick
2. Omarion Hampton, North Carolina - 2nd round, 48th overall pick
3. TreyVeyon Henderson, Ohio State - 2nd round, 54th overall pick
4. Quinshon Judkins, Ohio State - 2nd round, 59rd overall pick
5. Kaleb Johnson, Iowa- 3rd round, 65th overall pick
6. Cameron Skattebo, Arizona State - 3rd round, 89th overall pick

I think there are something like 25 draftable RBs in this draft. Some very different rankings except for everyone has Jeanty #1. Henderson seems like a low touches back but could end up being one of the best players in the draft imo. Some people are really high on Kaleb Johnson. I think Todd McShay has him #4 with a big dropoff to #5. Skattebo tore up college.

Who do you like? Who is everyone sleeping on? Is Jeanty the next Kamara? The next Trent Richardson?

I like Skatettebo but he may be rising. I was hoping for 3-4th round but......
I could see rd3. I think RD3-RD4 is where the run will be but Skatettebo might lead the run.

I think its possible BPA might be running back in every round after 2. Its just going to be whether or not teams think they can wait to pick one up im guessing.

Don't like Jeanty or Skattebo at the NFL level.

Both guys gain lots of yards after contact in college. While Jeanty is quick and supposedly nimble, Skattebo brings on the contact.

Like Judkins the most. He can fit in any system and is at least a great 3rd down RB.

Henderson is a wild card for me. Explosive player but doesn't have much swivel. He could be great, or he is a complete bust.

Kaleb Johnson is Derrick Henry but not as big, fast, or physical. Hard pass.

Hamptons the top back in this class imo
For where he will go, I agree.

Jeantys numbers are off the charts but for some reason I watch his film and Im not 'top 10 pick' excited.

Could be right. Only seen him once and he was an absolute warhorse carrying the team.

A 3 down back that can carry the load. Doesn't have that 'burst' or top end speed, but looks to be undoubtedly an every down RB in the NFL.

To be fair, Derrick Henry's physical profile is relatively unique. I think he was a top SPARQ player coming out.

I hear patient runner who follows his blocks and I think Leveon Bell. Burst will be everything. Probably the one player that will win or lose the most at the combine. If the physical profile is there, NFL teams will believe in him. Otherwise i could see him falling.

Hes got some wiggle and isnt slow. But youre right the hes not a speed back. curious to see some of his combine numbers. Hes a passing weapon. Just buried nationally at unc.

He is an 'in the hole' running back. You can run him inside cause he has some power, but he is also patient to get his space and is great at finding that space.

Like a David Montgomery, and even Saquon a bit. Maybe a sleeker Najee Harris?

Yup i think jeantys very good. ive just been excited about hampton. I hope the steelers snag him if they go rb. He looks like late first or 2nd round. There were some guys earlier this year pegging him as the only first rounder. I do want to see kore of some guys like laquint allen and rj harvey , jayden ott

Difference between him and monty or najee is he does have acceleration and some speed. Hes just not super high top end. Insee the najee comparison skill set wise. I think his vision and acceleration are better. If hes a najee clone, no thanks. Seen that story. But yeah i agree. Think skattebo rises if his testing is decent too. With u on him

I'm of the belief that RBs are coming back into vogue relative to the draft. Teams brass, HCs & OCs recognize that a productive RB, especially one that picks up yards, blocks, and catches passes is a major factor in the offense. It's why it's quite possible that the top 6 mentioned in this thread, perhaps even others, might not make it out of the 2nd round.

I could see most teams in their contending window drafting an rb

I definitely think Jeanty goes in the first round, probably to the Cowboys if he’s still available when they pick, the Cowboys have a clear need for a RB. There may be more RBs taken higher than normal this year, I think teams realize that having a strong rushing game can be a big key to winning.

In addition to those Top 6, I'm gonna add Tennessee's Dylan Sampson to the list of potential early round candidates. Naturally how he performs in the combines could impact his standing, but there's no questioning the man's speed and agility. Definitely brings a Jahmyr Gibbs vibe.
