Rivera has brought everyone he could from Carolina with him, gotta think he wants his Cam Newton moving forward.

Not a bad consolidation prize if Parsons doesn't fall. Good in coverage.

Decision making and progression issues? Can’t that be said about every draftee at qb ? So can’t it be legit for everyone ?

When I scouted this player there were a couple of immediate things that I had in mind when making an assessment.

The weaker level of competition and taking on hits when he runs. So, let me tell you what I saw and what I needed to see.

1. Weaker level of competition___ Because of the level of competition, I needed to see dominance and I saw the dominance that I was looking for.
When he's playing, he was head and shoulder the best player on the field. This should serve him well when
competing against the best of the best.

2. Taking on hits___ He is a big fella, 6' 4" 230 pounds so he can absorb some of the hits but in order to have a longer career than a Cam Newton he's going to have to learn to slide. I didn't see enough of that on film. Generally, he took the hit or initiated blows. I wasn't thrilled with it, but so far it's worked for him. Taking those same shots from NFL calibre players could present an issue for him going forward.

Extra credit: He takes snaps from under center !!

I saw a short ESPN documentary on him. He was pissed Minnesota didn't recruit him. He comes from a really small town. A lot of big schools did offer him a scholarship, but not as a QB. That's why he ended up at NDSt.

Boom or bust for sure.

From the FCS to the NFL.after sitting out a year is a big jump.

I just think teams will have a hard time defending us with a dual threat QB like Lance with Gibson and McKissic flanking him and Samuel in motion. That completely opens up the playbook.

We saw a bit of it with Taylor Heinicke!

While our D Line is our #1 strength right now, we know in the next year or so there are going to be some big contracts needed to keep these guys and we won't be able to keep them all. I think we need to look at Alim McNeil, DT out of NC State. He is one of the top DT's in the draft but it looks like he won't be picked unto the 3rd round. If he had played his senior year, he would probably be a 1st rounder next year. He was pretty much unstoppable this year. State plays a base 3-3-5 defense so his stats weren't as high if he played in a 4-3. He would allow us to lose Allen or Payne if it came down to it. But this kid is a future starter.

It’s a myth we only have to worry about Allen . We have 74 mil and CDC comes off the books as could LC and maybe Sherff
