Compared to some programs out there I'd consider Davidson is a small school. And not sure about ankle issues. Not doubting it, just don't remember.

If I remember right.....Curry wanted to play for Virginia Tech but was only offered a walkon spot. Davidson recruited him for a while before he signed.

Major schools were scared off by him being skinny.

I watched Steph play in high school multiple times.

Tech didn’t offer him a scholarship because he wasn’t good enough.

He was a bit of a late bloomer physically and everything started to really come together for him after he got to Davidson.

I even heard the Steph recruitment story straight from Davidson coach Bob McKillop.

Basically Steph was playing terrible in the biggest AAU tournament he did prior to senior year. There were a few small D1 schools there to watch him, but he was so bad first 2 games they all left and didn’t come back.

McKillop was impressed by Steph’s demeanor. He never appeared visibly upset, always remained an encouraging teammate and continued competing hard.

So McKillop stuck around to see him play better in the later games, and offered him a scholly right after. the tournament. And I believe it was his only offer.

I think there is a fairly significant chance that he doesn’t suit up for playoff games in Philly.
